So far, ACC is a sucking. We need to leave this sinking ship before it pulls us under.

The transfer portal and opt outs have effectively made bowl games...

meaningless glorified scrimmages.
There is a reason why attendance is so poor and most venues don't even bother selling tickets in the upper decks.

Opt outs/transfers didn't change anything
The TOP teams used to go to bowls to make 1 last attempt to impresse voters. That is why they mattered. Win your bowl game , hopefully you end up National Champ.
The day they officially made ONE game decide the NC is the day all other Bowls became meaningless. Adding 100 bowls, opt opts, transfers, and team records didn't do anything different.
They now serve the same purpose they have since the BCS... pure entertainment and it works. The last 2 pages of Tnet are all about BOWL games that "don't matter" but every 1 seems to be watching them adn posting about them.

I agree. Other than just watching your team play again, bowl games add nothing if you are not in the playoff.

The BCS definitely started the ball rolling downhill...

Having 42 bowl games (84 teams) along with opt outs and transfers have just exacerbated the problem.
I'll still watch, at least some of the games, but the quality of play has definitely been negatively impacted.

to be there and play and earn a spot on the roster. I personally find these games more enjoyable for that reason alone. Did you see the kids on Texas State after they won? They were on cloud 9! I much prefer watching a team play with players who are fighting for a spot and want to be there and want to win than watch a bunch of primadonnas out there trying not to get hurt while trying to pad their resume for the NFL draft.
You just need to change your perspective when watching these games now and you will see they are actually more interesting to watch. You get a glimpse of who is up and coming for next year.

a third as many as there are now, or perhaps slightly more than that, and teams and fans were almost always excited about them. They of course now have been ruined by money, greed, whatever you want to call it. They are virtually meaningless now.

In the expanded playoff Era, the non playoff games are truly development exhibition games. In reality, that is all the ever were. The level of play is lessened by transfers and opt-outs, but these games are what they always have been. Think back to games when the Tigers were not playing for the natty.. we watched to see our Tigers compete and try to win. I hate NIL and the open paying for play, but it is where we are. Enjoy the games and stop worrying about what is out of our control.

have put up more of a fight with their starting QB and NFL=level WR. But they didn't play.
But folks (not just you) will still say - wow, the ACC stinks. When really, almost no team is playing with the exact same players they had in the regular season.

No - not since ESPN and the SEC started trying to make a child together.

Possibly the ACC does stink. But I'm saying bowl results don't tell us anything about any of the teams playing (or their conferences).

Silly take for the reasons already listed above. I will say we need an invite before we jump ship and so far I am not aware of one.

It's just that ESPN is out to get us. The ACC is by far the best conference.

The ACC will be lucky to break even in bowl games. As stated above, the portal has gutted teams.

The ACC is filled with teams that benefit from a few. Few means 3. If I meant two, I would have said a couple of teams. Don't argue with me.

Can’t gauge anything with what’s going on. If my team has more opt outs than your team and are supposedly pretty equal than I like your chances better.

Clearly you have visions of grandeur (big word I know) in another conference, but the feeling may just be something you ate. Bowl games this year will show very little about any team or any conference because of all the players out. Perfect example was last night, A&M had 31 players out so do you think the outcome would have been different if they had played? I get true 1st round NFL guys opting out but something has to be done with the timing of the Portal entry door.
