this game - at least 3 hits for Brewers go exactly where someone normally stands. But leading 4-2 going to the 9th

Ever since the all star break the infield hasn’t been as good as they were before the break.

A really uneducated post in light of the fact that the Braves have the best record in baseball. Wow.

shortstop position in the 8th inning with the pitcher throwing on the outside corner to a left handed batter? Maybe you need a little education?

And my post has nothing to do with what their record has been the rest of the season.

Was it a shift? I thought that was banned this year.

I didn’t watch the game but could you tell if it was just a dumb pitch selection where the infield was set up or did the pitcher not execute the pitch from what you could tell of the catchers set up?

Maybe you should ask the educated poster above…. But

it was not the banned shift where 3 guys were to the right of 2nd- the 3rd baseman was like 20 feet from the base and an outside pitch was poked about 5 feet inside the line

Was the catcher lined up on the left side

or was it just a bad pitch? If the 3rd baseman is shifted that far over, then I'd have to think a pitch outside to a leftie was the mistake instead of the player positioning.

The hitting and the pitching have not matched up either. They seem to pitch bad when they hit good and vice versa. Today was a good pitching duel. Good guys win.

“This game” has nothing to do with the rest of the season. Always sure to find some dickheads on the baseball boards

I agree. The infield should have been positioned in their normal spots considering who was hitting. Frelick is a scrappy new high contact hitter who will hit the ball where placed and should not have been treated like a power pull hitter in that situation.

Isn't the point of baseball to "hit it where they ain't"?

Would a team be smart enough to do that, or would they be luckily hitting it to a spot where the defensive player, playing "out of position", can't get to it?

I said the same thing, they literally lost the 2nd game due to it. Just play normal defense and they would've been out of most of those scoring innings the Brew had. That lefty rookie just kept chopping it to the open hole opposite side. They overthink themselves sometimes.
