Clemson head coach Brad Brownell held his Saturday preview press conference ahead of practice at FedExForum in Memphis and the matchup with 3-seed Baylor on Sunday at 6:10 EDT (TNT):

* "Really proud of our team and the way we played. Played a good, well-coached New Mexico team."

* Baylor is "super offensively," incredible 3-point shooting. Different types of action on offense. Changes defenses. Excited about the challenge.

* Not sure there's a bunch of correlation between New Mexico and Baylor offenses. He's happy from Friday that they have positive results to build on.

* On the ACC and success this tournament: Trying to represent Clemson first but the ACC as well. Unbelievable history to the league. There's been a misnomer that the league hasn't been as strong. Not surprised at all that the league has done well.

* Brownell says there's a big change in styles offensively and the mental side of prep is key.

* Brownell says good balance on offense will be key. Will depend on how Baylor plays his team on the ratio of outside shots to play in the paint.

* Brownell on NET/Big 12 comments this season and playing Baylor now: He says some teams scheduled to benefit their NET ranking this season. He says he didn't say anything new on it at the time, but he reiterates that there is a problem with gaming NET rankings by certain scheduling. "I'm not sure that all the numbers are adding up."

* Brownell says his team recognizes underdog status. He says he has an older group that's more concerned with being prepared than being an underdog. But he says they notice things like that. He notes that ESPN had the New Mexico pick as its No. 1 upset and that he mentioned that to the team.

* Brownell says Baylor presents unique problems with an athletic center and shooting ability.

* Brownell was asked about PJ Hall and foul trouble. He says Hall has to be disciplined.

* Brownell on Joseph Girard III's impact: It's been huge. He's been a joy to coach. We delivered on our end in what we thought he could do with us and he's delivered on his end with ability, swagger and leadership. PJ and Chase (Hunter) welcomed him with open arms and he's really enjoyed his time at Clemson. Not just the basketball but being apart of our community and school. I think it's really been good for him. He's fit our culture extremely well.
