Just me or does the "back" button not work on these forums. Using I.E. 8 for what it's worth.

works fine on IE 9. Have you tried pressing the compatibility button beside the URL at the top? Looks like a torn piece of paper...

Not sure why folks still use IE when FF and Chrome are much better alternatives.
I work in the tech industry, and not one developer here uses IE.

Oh wow. I'm on the support side and primarily test things. I have to use IE b/c our clients use it.
Our devs here absolutely hate it though. Most of the devs seems to use FF, and use Linux or Macs to work on.

FF and Chrome annoy me when browsing. Especially downloading. Safari is my next favorite.
Developers seem to be biased against anything Microsoft no matter what so that doesn't surprise me. But not all of us are. lol

Question for the both of you...
Jul 20, 2012, 10:19 AM

I use IE and lately have had the same problems with the "back button". But as of the last few months I can't tell if I've read a post because it won't change colors. This comes and goes. Sometimes it does and then doesn't. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong on my end? Thanks.

I really don't know. I clear cache and cookies constantly, so most of the time my links appear as if I haven't read them.
I basically only use IE if I have to. Meaning if a client reports a bug, and I can't replicate in FF or Chrome, I'll open IE to test. In most of those cases it is indeed browser specific.
I don't know how to explain it, but I see a lot more IE only bugs. Meaning FF and Chrome work fine, but something with IE is off. For this reason, I suggest to my clients to use Chrome or FF (or Safari if on a Mac).

Your problem lies between the words "Using" and "for".

Why developers do not like Explorer
Jul 20, 2012, 4:15 PM
|
|
1) IE is laden with unnecessary code and runs slow. 2) IE is usually some distance behind the latest HTML standards. 3) IE usually is so far behind that developers cannot take advantage of newer features and formatting will not always work. If it works in one browser, it should work in all... if one fails, its always IE.
