Buckeye O vs. Bama's O

Jan 8, 2017, 11:39 AM

It may not be the perfect indicator of how our D will stack up, but I think most would agree that Ohio State's offense is as good or better than Alabama's .. and we shut them out.

Sure, if we played OSU 10x, I doubt we'd shut them out 10x, but we did with our one opportunity.

How do you think our D's performance translates from OSU to Alabama? Personally, I see us holding them to 27 or less. And I'll be d a m n e d if we don't score at least 30.

Bama's OLine is better than Ohio State's. Will be a battle for our D Line to get to the QB. Will have to play disciplined defense due to new Coordinator...not sure what he may pull out of the hat.

I would also suggest Bama is better at RB.... that may be in part because of their O line but I do think they are physically more impressive.

Because of the O line difference it will be hard to compare the QB's since even a great QB can look average if he doesn't have time to throw.

I would think you can make an argument that all things being equal that JTB is the better QB ...especially given the experience difference.

Ohio state has the remmington winner for best OLine and their secondary is also better with 2 NFL guys playing at DB. Bama is good but. It great at safety and you can argue that Fitzpatrick is their lone elite corner. I like our chances over 4 quarters which they have never had to play btw.

Alabama's O line certainly holds better

I think Bama might be slightly better. Not much just slightly.

The big difference will be that Bama will give the ball to the rbs. OSU only ran Weber and Samuel a total of 11 times. Bama's rbs will likely get 3x as many carries.

Perfect!

Bama's O is better at every position group except maybe QB.

Bama has more playmakers than Ohio State. They do share SOME limitations in the passing game, but it's not due to a lack of skilled receivers. They may try to do some similar things to Pittsburgh but without the downfield passing accuracy of Pitt's QB.

It will be a much taller task to slow their offense.

Both are virtually nonexistent against good defenses

Jan 8, 2017, 1:07 PM

I'm more concerned about them scoring on defense and special teams
Don't give up the pick 6's and TD's on special teams and the tigers win easy

Bama's is significantly better

Jan 8, 2017, 1:12 PM

Better OL, better RB, better TE, potentially even a better passer at QB. They'll be able to hit the occasional pass, whereas OSU was completely inept. I can't overstate the difference in OL, too.

OSU was a finesse offense. Bama is not.

With that said, we've got a great shot if our offense can sustain drives.
