All three said part of their pregame rituals was to pray for thanks. Must have ticked off a TON of people.

Look, this is pretty ridiculous. I'm a liberal and an Episcopalian. I personally think it's silly to pray before a football game, because God doesn't really give a .... about that stuff, but I think I and other liberals understand that lots of folks feel this is something they have to talk about. It doesn't hurt anyone and nobody cares.

Ok, I guess for those without the ability to comprehend what I was saying, groups like the Wisconsin group and athiest groups are what I was talking about. There is no butt hurt on here per say. Sometimes, people just shouldnt respond if they clearly dont understand the context of a comment.

Maybe you should add some context to your comments then.

What an ignorant concept of what God wants in prayer.

God may not care about football, but He does care that we thank Him for things we have in life, especially those that bring us joy - even for the trials we "can" learn from. "Give thank always, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."
Get off the milk and get into the meat of the Word.

It is admonition (a gentle and friendly reproof) that it is time to mature in God's word.

I'm a liberal and I'm not sure I can agree with you. People pray for many things. I've never known a football player, personally, that who asked got to give them a victory in a football game.
and others agree with Kierkegaard:
“The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.”
People of any faith make me nervous when they start laying down rules they think others should adhere to.
