Buying Wes Goodwins stock

I’ve liked Wes as far as a defensive minded guru but yesterdays defense flying to the ball with bad intentions sold me on Wes. He’s had one of the hardest jobs out of anyone taking of for the Nick Saban DCs. Just very impressed how he kept them together after #7 started the game off like a mad man, made the adjustments and basically took him out of the game. I still would love to see more fire from him but that’s just what we’ve come to expect with BV being here for so long. But if he can keep the guys playing with that possessive fire then that’s good enough for me. Out of all the assistants he’s on of the few I’m not worried about I actually believe he has a chance for greatness.

Pretty good class last cycle and a good one this cycle. We'll know more after the season with how much attrition we have. Next year is going to be tough if most leave as I expect. But next season would be tough for CBV. I think we really will need to get some DE support and a linebacker from the portal. We'll be super thin. Some experienced depth would help.

I would like us to replace Conn as the Co-DC and bring in someone who can teach fundamentals better. Also replace him as LB coach. That said, those things fall on the position coaches, so maybe some adjustments there... Also, Covil tore his ACL in practice last week, I hate it for the kid but it might buy him another year in the program and hopefully we can get him some opportunities to get on the field once he is recovered.

Agree 100%, I definitely want to replace Conn with someone firey. Also think getting a LB coach would free up Goodwin more time to be like a mad scientist in a lab with the schemes. Really hoping Covil Jr stays I’ve been sold on that kid he just needs a chance.
