Cade 1st half, long post

I rewatched the game only going into what appeared to be designed passing plays.

1)Immediete pressure and sack from interior
2) hit check down for 2 yds on hi/lo read, only open option.
3) hb swing screen
4) Flushed from pocket scrambled for 1st.
5) Screen to brown Sapp takes poor angle on block. Loss on play.
6) Pressure from twist and delayed Blitzer, smash concept to short field, makes bad decision under duress forcing corner route missing the sinking dB, near int. Shipley open on 5 yard out under the dB
7)Motioned 4 verts, maybe could have hit the motion man to his left nothing else remotely open, 3 man rush forces him up for a 4 yard scramble.
8)Swing route, looks like he looked down field first and came back to Shipley for a 1st.
9)Slot fade/wheel to Brinningstool dB gets away with holding but Ball placement outside and catchable if Brinningstool looks outside instead of inside.
10)5 man rush with quick pressure, scramble drill somehow found mafah on the leaked out check down for a few yards.
11)Throws the ball into the middle of the field near no one, missed his outside hitch to his right for easy 6 yards. Miscommunication?
12)Tunnel screen to Shipley.
13)Mesh post concept, conflict defender does a good job causing hesitation on the meshing drags no one else open, late throw to Brown for 1 yard bad throw while under pressure.
14)hits Patt-Henry in hands, is 15 yards if caught, dropped ball.
15)RT beat immediately, flushed left, all routes were vertical stem with no checkdown options, awkward throwaway.
16) rifled a pass into a curl route, 3 relievers sit with in 3 yards of each other on the short side of the field? Bad play design?
17)Hits brown in the chest in the window between the LB and safety on a dig, dropped ball. Could have hit curl on his right for same yards but looks like a good read.
18)Motion wr screen, stellato takes a wife angle to block and play gets blown up.
19) pass batted at line, intended target open on a notch route over the middle.

I got Cade dinged for 3 bad reads out of the 19 drop backs.

Lot of quick pressure, he made alot of plays with his legs that did not look like much but kept some drives alive.

Playcalling was very suspect as well as design. Would like screens to have tighter splits so the wr blocking can get to his guy easier and no checkdowns on 3rd and longs???? Also why are they cluttering up the short side?

Wrs are definitely poorly coached. Lot of bad routes and poor angles on blocks for screens. Also guys are not understanding where the ball is supposed to be (Brinningstool could have had a big catch on that fade/wheel if he were looking outside, Randall had a similar situation)

Should have been sat down for a series after that "throw it up in the air cause he don't care" play. His awful decision making needs to stop. He has one or two of those per game but none as bad as that one.

Yea no he definitely was trying to throw that away but had a guy on him immediately, needed to get it past the LoS and probably thought he needed to get air under it bc he couldn't set his feet or even square up. That's not Cade not caring

It amazes me how so many of our fans who’s never met the kid constantly say he doesn’t care, and call him selfish when the kid has never even taken a compliment for anything that has gone right. He does some dumb stuff but if you watch football he’s not alone. Get the kid an OL, some reliable playmakers, and I bet you he will win a bunch of ball games. I’d rather have a QB try to do everything he can then one who’s to scared to try to make a play.

I think some of these relievers could be good if they were coached properly tbh. Randall needs to understand where to track the ball to and he could be a good player imo.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing as your last comment. The long ball to Randall was weird. It’s like he was not even looking for the ball at all. The ball was between him and the sideline. The defender was on the other side of Randall. Brown is the only guy that fights for the ball.

Cade played a solid game imo. Had 3 or 4 drops that would have been 1st downs. Those are drive killers. Cade does do some young mistakes and looks clumsy running but yesterday he ran the ball pretty well.

Game stats would be alot different if the drops don't happen and the wrs actually understand where to expect the ball. Flipside game could've gone the other way with the 2 near picks.

I want to see Cade with some wrs and a decent OL (RT looks to be the worst of the bunch in pass pro)

Is it just my imagination, or were the Gamecocks sometimes pressuring with just three linemen? Our Oline simply doesn't give Cade enough time. And this problem is exacerbated by receivers who have a tough time getting open.

Very disappointing that many times the pocket was collapsing with a three man rush. There is zero reason why the OL group is not elite at Clemson. None.

Drops were momentum killers and do nothing to help promote a quarterbacks confidence. Amazing that our WR group has fallen as far as it has. Moore and Wesco are huge upgrades…. we need to continue to recruit that caliber receiver. that’s what Ohio State has been signing….

Baffling we don’t run it more when it’s third and second and short.

Game was somewhat similar to last year’s orange bowl. Drove it down the field well at times but then stalled when we near the red zone

Isn’t this an O-coordinator issue?

QB being in sync with the WR’s is not just the fault of the WR coach.

Also, as far as O-Line play, doesn’t the O-coordinator have some responsibility for blocking schemes? I get it that, with respect to an O-lineman’s technique and synchronizing their blocking assignments with each of the other O-linemen’s assignments, this responsibility belongs to the OL coach.

More on blocking: With respect to how the OL blocking assignments are synchronized with the blocking assignments of the TEs and RBs, doesn’t the O-coordinator have a central role in how the overall blocking scheme of any given play call is supposed to work?

Just asking …

Well yes, but hard to fault an OC for not having that chemistry with his position coaches if he doesn't know them.

Also the OC imo should be letting those guys know what he wants but it's their job to coach it.

Blood they actually believe that a HC does absolutely nothing but try to look pretty for the camera. Every head coach in America has veto power over any play they’re the boss at the end of the day. This isn’t something Dabo just started doing and it’s nothing out of the norm.

Yep. Winning the time of possession might have been the most important stat from Saturday night. Keep the other team’s offense off the field and they can’t score. Run the ball and run the clock. It is hard to score touchdowns this way but in a game like this field goals are enough. It ain’t sexy or flashy but it wins ballgames.

posted, we have big problems with our O-line and receiving corps.

Those are on the staff, beginning with discipline and motivation. I recall watching Peyton Manning raising helll with several of his O-line in the pros; meaning, he wasn't satisfied with their performance. The QB is the Captain of the offense, and I'd like to see more of them taking charge and calling out poor play. They are backed up with the ability to send players to the bench.

Cade has to continue to develop, but I remain convinced most of his struggles are due to pisss poor play by his offensive crew. No excuse for all the misrun routes, dropped passes and lack of protection by the line...problems which have been consistent.

Excellent analysis. Couple of things need to happen: 1. New offensive line coach 2. New wide receiver, coach 3.An offensive offensive coordinator who will run the entire offensive show. The pass to Randall, later in the game was likely a touchdown, especially if he gave himself a little more room between the sideline and his position, and looked for the ball. It was a perfect back shoulder pass.
