Can anyone explain why UGA is favored this week?

It started -6 for Georgia. Now it's between 4 1/2 to 3.
The public still believes in UGA?

I wasn't too impressed with them last week. UNC looked bad and remember they lost to duke last year.

My coot friend claims they only put up 24 because Spurrier will not show you anything at all if he doesn't have to. He claims they could have put up 75 on UNC at any time...if they needed to. Also said if you followed his career you would know that, but I remember him getting criticized at Florida for blowing teams out the water. So he can blow that smoke somewhere else cuz they suck this year.

about how Spurrier was holding back. For God freaking sake, Spurlid is the king of running up the score.... I don't want to hear the BS.

Same reason as last week...
Sep 6, 2013, 2:36 PM
|

More UGA bettors than SC bettors.
Most bettors bet with their heart, not with their mind and Georgia is a bigger state.
Regardless, this one have the same result, underdog covers and wins the game.

Georgia barely lost to an extremely talented and underrated Clemson team in a hostile environment. Why shouldn't they be favored? Take the compliment and stop complaining about every #### thing.

Vegas details aside (betting lines, juice, etc.), I think

people look at UGA's situation (a true must-win), their home field advantage, and their talent and just think they have more going for them in this one than the coots.
That said, and it scares me to say this, the coots beat the CRAP out of UGA last year at the W-B. So we know they can lose and lose big. Also puts our win in perspective.

It's a must-win for UGA and their young defense has a game under its belt. If they can contain Connor Shaw-- not an easy task when he bolts-- they'll be ok.

I don't understand why people got so down on Georgia after losing to us.
1) Todd Gurley played a whale of a game and he sat out for almost a full quarter. He'll play the whole game against SC. 2) They get Josh Harvey-Clemons back for this game. 3) Georgia is at home. 4) SC might have a slightly better D-Line than us but they have worse LBs and a similarly bad secondary.
I think Georgia will surprise their doubters and handle SC pretty easily.

This
I agree with you sccrmania. SC scored 27 at home against a UNC D that is not nearly as talented as Georgia. Georgia put up 35 and over 500 yards of offense in a very hostile environment against a defense that is decent, but I agree that SC has the better D-line. Clemson has better linebackers and the SC probably has the advantage at D back and safety. I expect GA to put up 35 in Athens with homefield advantage and Gurley at 100%. SC has a good offense, but they are not as talented as Clemson's offense. They will also be in very hostile environment, and as you mentioned below, GA will Clemons back. Why do SC fans believe they will score more points this week against a much better defense on the road. It doesn't make sense, but then again, I have never accused a coot of making sense.

Sounds like someone wants to bet the farm on UGA, but Vegas is not cooperating. Just bet on UGA - you're still going to win big. USUC is "ovah - rated".

Because Georgia is the better team. I have been amazed by the number of SC fans that have called in to 104.9 or posted on message boards that they are going to win by 3 touchdowns in Athens. USuC fans have and always will be the most delusional fanbase on the face of the earth, and even now that they have a pretty good football team, you would think they are the defending Super Bowl champs. Georgia will win this game tomorrow by 10+ points. It is in Athens, their backs are against the wall, and despite what you are hearing from the illogical coot fanbase, they played a hell of a game against a great Clemson team in a more hostile environment than they will see all year, including all SEC teams. That's right, Clemson is a more hostile environment than any in the SEC from a noise and fan standpoint. Just ask Georgia! My prediction...Georgia 35 USuC 24. Tomorrow will be a huge reality check for the dirtpeckers.

SCar not as good offensively as us or UGA
Sep 6, 2013, 8:00 PM

and their defense didn't look that good against UNC even though they won by enough. But on the flip side SCar beat the spread which is always a big deal in Vegas. So, I'm guessing the offensive tilt to UGA and the fact that it's between the hedges AND the fact that it's a revenge game has a lot to do with the betting keeping it around a 4 give to SCar.
