Did both in college, was actually a better kicker than punter but got drafted as a kickoff specialist and punter, good career too… that said I’m sure the coaches have tested all options, so if he isn’t then he probably isn’t the best option.

Gardocki was a good kicker and punter for Clemson from '88 to '90, but only punted and kicked off in the pros.

I'm pretty sure Potter was cross training as a punter to increase his NFL value... but "pretty sure" should be defined as "maybe I told it to myself and believed it" given my track record. (sigh)

HS punters are too hit & miss to offer scholarships

Seems like the perfect position to fill through the portal or just let a couple of preferred walk-ons compete for one

From the sound of things he’s going to have to. Maybe it will turn out better than expected but unless the offense makes huge improvements we are going to need a decent punting game to help the D with field position.
