2016 BMW 5-Series
Garage charging $2k for smoke test, replace valve cover on cylinder head assembly, and replace coolant hose from radiator to thermostat.

Car current value is $10k at best. Seems crazy dropping this much on repairs. Pissed that just put $1k in tires recently too.

Do I repair or buy new vehicle? Was hoping to get another year out of car before major costs.

Assume you mean valve cover gasket and not the actual valve cover, right? That and the hose should be $500-600 tops at an Indy mechanic.

2014 Toyota Camry. 224,000 miles. Zero maintenance problems. Change oil. Dealership for big services every 30 k miles. Haven't spent $10 on unplanned maintenance.
