Ah yes

nothing like seeing all southerners look just like a department store manikin .... is this costa movement new? every preppy dude here in Charleston used to wear oakley, but now there are costa decals that spread across back windows of jacked up trucks riding into gated communities.

Oakley's were never that popular with the boating and fishing crowd, which is the target audience for Costa and why ALL of their lenses are polarized. Oakley went after athletes. I've always thought Oakley's were kind of ghey.

I wore Ray Ban before Costa. I loved Costa's first time I tried them on, which was long before they were popular. I've been wearing Costa's for almost 15 years. Back then if you bought a dozen pair at around $75/pair you qualified as a dealer and could then buy them custom made by the pair for about 50% of retail. I tried to get some guys together to put together an order but we didn't get quite enough people. That was a huge missed opportunity.

I knew way back then they were going to be huge because they were very high quality, glass lens, polarized, and you could custom make what you wanted mixing various frames and lenses for dozens of combinations.

They dominate in the lowcountry because they have done an amazing job targeting the fishing crowd and they sponsor any and every fishing show on TV. From day one they made their glasses for fishing.

I've always thought Ray Ban's were pretty ghey.

But other than that...I agree with you about Costa

sounds like something I should have gotten in to. I'm definitely familiar with the brand. A friend of mine father is an optometrist that has been selling the brand for quite some time now. Honestly growing up in MT.P, I saw a lot of Oakley.

They make them with optional lenses like reading glasses ...

with 1.75x and 2.5x magnification and have an excellent program with optometrists so you can get Costas to match your prescription. On the website they can direct people to the nearest optometrist in the program. Pretty neat.

People that don't fish don't understand how critical polarized lenses are.

yeah those took off again too huh? wife bought me a pair a few years ago. They're not the real deal ones. She actually bought me some that looked like Mike Tomlin's of the Steelers. Pretty sweet!

I'll take Maui Jims over either of those two. ******
