Chad Morris=Paul Johnson?

Sep 21, 2014, 9:51 AM

I certainly would rather have Chad Morris, but after a couple seasons, have defenses basically figured out Morris's system, much like it takes a couple seasons to catch onto the option to where its no longer and enigma???

His offense does not work without a power running game.

We've had some tough luck at tailback and are a year away on the OL too. Watson and Choice look like the real deal.

I respect Cole and he can help us from a coaching and leadership perspective, but we have the rest of the year to get our O back to a championship level for next season.

Reps, reps, reps until we get there.

Last year.

Roderick McDowell 1,025 yards 5.4 average.
Tajh Boyd 400 yards, 10 rushing TDs.

Hot Rod was not a power back

Hence the reason we had to always use Boyd on short yardage

Then is our defense good enough?

Sep 21, 2014, 10:05 AM [ in reply to His offense does not work without a power running game. ]

At some point, we're gonna have to have a good offense and defense simultaneously. Till then, it's gonna be tough to compete with FSU for championships. I guess we'll see.

To the OP's question, I don't think it's been figured out. I just think it may require players be more technically sound that we can muster at times.

I think the biggest misses on offense have been Sammy's power on short passes that made him into a virtual running back taking on the corner and Tajh's power up the middle. He was as good as a fullback on 3rd and 2. We do need to figure out what now without a big Tajh. CJ Davidson looks pretty good for it.

No. If Paul Johnson had the caliber of players like we have

Sep 21, 2014, 10:11 AM

he would have won that game.
