the NCAA does not have subpena power so it's not like they can demand to see the records.

He called him up and told him to come to Auburn and get paid. Alexander promptly told him where to stick it and called coach Venables. hence Alexander coming out and saying that he couldn't be bought.

That being said while auburn might get away with this Ole Miss will not. They have ticked off A LOT of teams and I know that Clemson, UF, FSU, and others are already calling in violations on them. The NCAA will be forced to at least investigate what's been going on up there.

I don't know what the amount is today, but I worked with a fellow a couple years ago who was a QB at Howard. He said that while he was recruited by some Big 10 Schools a buddy of his went down to Georgia. He was taken to a car, the trunk was opened and inside was 40k cash.

So that was about the year 2001 or so

from us, and a house from UGA 30 years ago, and I think it's safe to speculate that Cam got at least $180,000...

The money is probably only as big as it has to be...supply and demand, but I bet it's big for the bigtime recruits. I doubt Auburn or other teams are handing out cash to every player. They probably hold it as an enticement to close on the really big fish, like Cam, Adams and Lawson. I am totally speculating.
