time friend Coach Harrison passed away in the presence of his three children. John coached football and taught geometry at Wren for many years and lately had been coaching the Wren pole vaulters as a volunteer. In fact, he has two state championship rings from the track team in the last couple of years. If you live in the Powdersville area, you had to know of Coach Harrison and the Harrison clan. And I was lucky enough to meet John about 35 years ago when he came to work as a part time Realtor for me way back when I owned my own real estate company. John and I quickly became friends. We developed Watson Grove in Powdersville together with John's Clemson roommate Richard Cottingham way back in 1997. And we attended many Clemson games of all sports together...including the famous 63-17 game and the Duke basketball game as "Blind Referees"....one of our greatest moments together. The only regret I have and John as well...was that we never got our chance to host a 15 minute radio show on WCCP. We wanted to call it the "Drive BY". Yessirs...we were gonna do it on Fridays. We would come on the show for FIFTEEN minutes only, where we would hurl insults at South Carolina,Georgia,North Carolina and maybe a few of the radio celebs like Gamecock Will....and then depart..LEAVING THE HOST OF THE AFTERNOON SHOW TO DEAL WITH THE INCOMING FIRESTORM. I told the host of the show that we wanted to do it with, that WCCP would NOT HAVE ENOUGH PHONE LINES to handle all of the incoming calls.
