Clemson road to Playoff (Corrected)

Nov 22, 2022, 8:23 PM

1) USC Loss or TCU Big 12 Championship game loss
2) OSU win against Michigan

Regardless of what anyone says, there are no other teams to compete with us if #1 scenario happens. We do not need to win convincingly (Although it would help) because once USC and Michigan lose, who else is there realistically anyways even if we barely win both of the last 2 games.

In my personal opinion, I argue that the scenario I mentioned is the probably one of the most likely to happen. Yet Finebaum says it’s “laughable”.

There’s no road, if LSU loses again it will be against an sec team so those losses really don’t count, also one loss non conference champs carry more weight then a conference champ. The committee has royal screwed up CFB.

Here's what needs to happen

Nov 22, 2022, 8:29 PM

GT beat UGA
Michigan beat Ohio State
Team X beat Michigan
UGA beat LSU
Auburn beat Alabama
ND beat USC
Oregon beat USC
Iowa State beat TCU
Team Y beat TCU

Clemson beat SCAR
Clemson beat UNC

This scenario
1. UGA
2. MICH
3. OH STATE
4. CLEM

Its fairly obvious the goal is to keep Clemson out.

My favorite quote from Herbstreet: "LSU is catching fire at the exact right time" ... so Weeks 1-6 was just preseason for them.

I agree with you.

With the caveat that would make Clemson a player in the conversation. I'm not sure it would get them in. If Michigan plays Ohio State close, they still might get in. If your scenario happens (and USC wins out but TCU loses the championship game) then the committee will Be looking at:

UGA
Ohio State
USC
Clemson OR Michigan OR TCU.

The case could be made that TCU has the best resume. (I wouldn't make it, but it could be made.)

@BrettFSU

Michigan: If they lose they are out period. They have no room when it comes to their schedule, and they should understand that as they made the choice to remove UCLA from this season. If Michigan beats OSU, yes that makes it interesting b/w Clemson and OSU. At that point, yes then we would need to have two more convincing wins to compare to OSU eye test.

TCU: 12-1 NON BIG12 Champ is not getting over 12-1 ACC Champ

USC: 1 more loss puts them at 2 losses, they are Out
