Clemson/ FSU Spread

So I have seen several posts questioning why the line has moved from 7.5 to 3.5. While I am not Vegas expert, here is my simple understanding of the process.

In this case if $1000 is place on the FSU and only $100 is placed on Clemson, then the line will move down to try and get more bets placed on Clemson to try any even out the total money bet so it is a wash. The way I have been explained is that they use the money lost to pay out the money won, so it needs to be equal. The was Vegas makes the majority of their money is the charge or small % of money they tax the winners.

There is no conspiracy against Clemson and Vegas doesn’t know something we don’t. It is all driven by where the majority of the bet are being placed by the people betting. Simple as that.

If this is not correct, then someone more educated on Vegas and gambling please feel free to correct me.

the largest amount of money bet on either team comes from experienced pro bettors who usually find access to some sort of inside info to help them place their wagers. It's not exactly Vegas moving the line, it's Vegas moving the line in reaction to where the biggest money is going.

Having said that, maybe this game is just an outlier created by a huge number of FSU fans getting back into the betting pool after several years of believing there was no good reason to bet on their team.

Pure speculation on my part - but probably just as valid as 90% of the other theories here. The line makes no sense to me either. I still believe we remove doubt early.
