Coach Grisham

For those who have been less than thrilled with the wide receiver production the last couple of years I think we need to understand the jury should still be out on Coach Grisham. Maybe he's not the guy I'm not sure myself yet but I think we have to give him at least one year with a competent offensive scheme and a quarterback who can complete a forward pass. Yeah there have been some guys that didn't really develop but at the same time remember, they practiced with DJ everyday. I'm just saying, if they didn't think the ball was going to get to them how engaged really were they? Easy to say the bench them but who are we putting in their place? Hamp Greene, whichever Swinney is left on the roster? I'm not saying it's been great but I see a lot of bashing of Grisham and I'm not sure he's been given a lot of help.

Keyboard experts need something or some to blame for any given situation. The first couple of seasons CJS was the WR coach, the old men of t-net threw him under the bus. Seems he was inexperienced plus was not a great player so he did not know how to coach WRs….was their common refrain. Sometimes history repeats itself

Jeff Scott used to go recruit with his dad when he was very young. The guy literally was born to it. Dabo has confidence in Grisham or he wouldn't be there. If Dabo sees a problem he corrects it. Can you imagine how hard it was personally to let Streeter go? I'm sticking w Dabo's judgement. Period

jarheadtiger® I have my doubts about Coach G. But, you make very valid points, that I must admit are solid.

In this scheme, the fact we are apparently going to rep the offense to death so it can be run in the player's sleep should make it easier.

Some of the "tea-leaves" comments i've heard since the switch and even actually going back to Coach Elliott are that: "we maybe had a situation where it was paralysis by over-analysis"!

Study long - study wrong! The players in other words were out there trying to remember all the nuances of the route in relation to what the defense was doing. Because, remember, our offense wanted to make the defense wrong no matter what they did as a philosophy. But, this may have hurt some of them because it didn't allow them to "just be athletes out there making plays"!

Simplifying things "WILL HELP" in that regard. Which in turn will suddenly help WR production.

I think, as a side note, when we played more up-tempo it helped keep the defense basic. It also helped the WR's just go out and play faster as well. The last couple of years slowing it down, "HURT"!

I think/hope/pray we get back to using some of the same tactics that work against us and other "sound defenses" like tempo. Simplified offensive schemes allow players to go be athletes and not "PH'D's with cleats" as they try and deliver the adjustment in milliseconds!

You make some good points. One particular case comes to mind comma Sammy Watkins. At times I think you could just say to him equivalent of sandlot style "go get open" and then he went out and did just that.

If Grisham can’t prove himself with coaching and development this upcoming season, he needs to be Streeter’d.

All I’ll say about Coach Grisham

He has had some 5 star receivers that spent more time off the field than on it. That’s not counting Stellato who was supposed to be our next star in the slot.

Our QB the last 2 years couldn’t hit water from the end of a pier.

The two receivers we’ve got committed now will play day one.

Clemson doesn't care about basketball....as evidenced by Brown-L getting 14 years.
