I'm going with Williams. Throwing out that fan a few years ago pretty much sealed it for me. Now I like to joke about free ice cream every time they lose since he claimed he was just looking back there because he thought they were handing out free ice cream. It seems like Williams isn't that great of a coach, he just wins because he has all of the tradition and recruiting ability of UNC behind him. I'm almost convinced Brownell is a better x's and o's coach, and would do better at UNC than Williams is.

They are both great coaches that love their players and their schools. They both run their program with class and neither goes out of his way to take jabs at other schools. With that being said, I do like Coach K better and believe he is the best coach since Wooden. You don't always have to hate the opponent to want to kick his ###.

seem like good coaches from what I have seen over the years. Can't speak for what they are like behind closed doors.
My problem with both programs has been more about the refs when they were getting most of the calls. Hopefully that will continue wane more over the years.

but it's always seemed to me that 'stars' in the ACC get the close calls.. almost as bad as in the NBA
of course Dook & NC have had more than their share of 'stars'

I think Coach K is an incredible coach and I think OVERALL he runs his program with dignity. When he loses, he is surprisingly respectful of his opponent. Honestly I remember him coming on our team's bus to give us praise after a game. Some might consider that arrogant but I think Coach K IS a advocate of all the ACC teams and I commend him for that. I HATE the way he works over a ref during the game and I think he should tone down his language while coaching in front of a packed house, but I mostly blame the refs for letting that tactic go unchallenged. How ANY coach isn't T'ed up the first time they mouth off to a ref, I'll never understand.
Williams does not impress me at all. Coaching-wise, his team is so inconsistent you HAVE to point to him. Ethics? Please...that place is a cesspool. Leadership? I heard that man at the start of a game on an aircraft carrier in front of thousands of service men and women complain about his vertigo. I've seen him throw an opposing fan out of a stadium. In a rowdy game in Tallahassee, when it was evident FSU was going to win and the fans were going to storm the court, I watched HIM leave, WITH his starters, and leave his scrubs there ALONE to take the brunt of it. Really not much positive I can say about the man.

whatever...
but i'm with you on being baffled for many years as to how K gets away with the language he uses courtside...
maybe it all started back in 1991, when the heels mopped the floor with Dook in the ACC tourney final.. Laettner had a 40-minute obscenity fest and never even got a warning
i guess you missed K's rant about the students at UVA and his alleged cussing at them?

you're a multimillionaire coaching a game, keep your #### mouth shut in front of enlisted sailors about your dizziness.
If you're such a pansy that you are afraid of some celebrating fans hurting your bought-and-paid-for superstar illiterates, at least have the cajones to protect all of your players, or stay out on the court yourself.
If you can't deal with one fan yelling at your players in your 28,000 seat stadium, can I suggest Accounting as your career change choice?
I get that you're a Tar Heel fan, but your Tar Heels are a corrupt program in a corrupt institution and their coach is lacking in ethics and character. If you can't handle that opinion on a Clemson fan site, you might want to visit less often.

as i've said several times i get a laugh out of all the "Williams can't coach" comments.
i certainly don't take it personally.
last time i checked, Roy W. is in two halls-of-fame and is one of the winningest coaches in college basketball with 2 national titles in the last 9 years
yet wookie and so many others here seem to think they know more about how Williams should do his job? truly laughable
