I have seen a lot of post about the 8 team playoff and I think it is a great idea. I am in agreement to make all Power 5 conferences play a conference championship game. Take the Power 5 conference champions and seed them 1-5 (committee seeds them). Take highest rated non power 5 team and then 2 at larges that the committee chooses. You could put stipulations on the at larges for ex.- no more than 2 total teams from a conference, must have double digit wins, etc. This would leave the committee only 3 real decisions to make. PERFECT!! Also the best part is that if you think about it the playoffs would technically be bigger than 8 teams bc those conference championship games would be like the first round! That would make for one heck of a final week in the season. Man that would be awesome to watch.
Every other sport puts conference tournament champions in so why can't football put conference game champions in. It says something for a team to be able to win their conference no matter if the conference might not be the best. For example this year all conference and co conference champions would be deserving of the playoff.
But hey something that easy and logical could never be used right?
