Biden just bought him a new voter!
I dunno what happened this year, but somehow between fed and state, I'm getting almost $4k back in taxes.
I didn't change absolutely anything since last year, except holding my anger and not blowing up a federal building somewhere (I'm JOKING FBI). We made $22k less, but I also had to pay $11K in additional taxes at year end last year, so the whole thing makes zero sense to me. That's a $15K swing in (additional) taxes on $22K less income.
I probably left out something and will get busted half way through the year and owe $20K more or somethin'.
How can I get a Biden '24 shirt?

Normally, I spend the next month plotting moving out of the country. Today, I have a slight grin on my face, not feeling like I'm being financially sodomized at every turn.

*Current administration of my household, my wife and I, for not reading closely the new W4 and not checking a specific box and not looking at pay stubs closely to realize they had virtually zero federal withholdings in her paycheck this year.

Maybe never.
If Turbotax would have told me I didn't owe anything I'd be just as happy...this just adds to it. I guess I have no excuses not to finish the back deck and replace a couple doors in the house now.

If you did, that would explain the huge discrepancy.
I made a good bit more in 2022 than I did in 2023 and in 2022 I hit AMT. I was essentially taxes at 65% on the delta of income.
