Dabo Swinney is getting blasted, again, by members of the national media after his remarks about how college football needs to change. What they are all afraid to admit is that he's right. But there is a side they don't get to see......
He walked out of the locker room after the game and made fun of me for wearing extra layers (you look like an Eskimo, he said), and then went out and did interviews in the wind and cold. We were all freezing. And when he walked out, he could have gone straight to the warmth and gotten away from it all.
Instead, he saw that a crew of people were loading the last of the TV equipment on a truck. They were all tired and working hard, and he went out of his way to thank them for their hard work, to thank them for coming to Death Valley, and then he shook the hand of everyone one of them and asked them their names while introducing himself.
When he finally left, after listening to them, one of them turned to me and said, "I wish I had taken a picture. I have been doing this a long time and no coach has ever talked to me. That was pretty cool." The side most people don't get to see.
