Friday went over to Shoeless for for a couple beers. Friday's at Shoeless are always fun.
Saturday, between the rain and Sharkgirls back troubles we flaked on RH and the Mrs. and didn't go to the White Squirrel festival. Instead did a few small chores around the house, which included totally wrecking some bathroom cabinet doors that don't fit after a repaint and new hinges. Watched Clemson baseball.
Sunday, more of the same, watched the boys bring on the ship.
Monday, up early to go to the Moose cafe then a little shopping. Did some yard stuff, but not nearly enough.

Friday - chilled at home.
Saturday - went over to the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA - had a great tour guide, was really good especially for Memorial Day weekend. Ate lunch at a Cookout for the first time in years. For a once every half decade treat, dat sh*t was good! Went to SeaQuest so littlest APM could encounter capybaras. They were pretty cool.
Sunday - APM’s high holiday. Monaco. Church. Indy 500. Chicken fettuccine alfredo for dinner.
Monday - got a great workout in. Serious skrenff work. Had poke bowls for dinner. Chilled.

for his two kids. Still have to do the swing set but this was a job! We cussed, laughed, got dog tired and generally had a good time.
Made two versions of Brunswick Stew, one with Sweet Baby Ray's and the other with Duke's Mustard Sauce (from SCBBQ recipe jroller has done). I think I still like the sweeter SBR's version.

We started on Saturday, took Sunday off due to rain and worked on it 9 hours yesterday. Grandkids at the beach place so we kept sending them pics as we made progress.

Had a fish fry with some Oscars FIL got from Florida. Sunday AM went to church, where oldest son was confirmed. Had a family feast afterwards. Pulled pork, "farmer john" encrusted potatoes, slaw, pound cake, strawberries, cornbread casserole, crack brownies, cookies, and green beans were had by most. Fixed son's Razor drift cart. Had to add new tires as the old tires had worn off. Washed clothes and groceries were all bought. Lowes trip because the lug nuts on a Razor electric cart are bigger than any socket wrench I have. They're bigger than my lug nuts on my car even. So ended up with a 15/16" socket and needed a 1/3" to a 1/2" adapter. Altogether, $50 for tires, and $25 for the socket and adapter to fix the dern thing. He says it's faster than ever though, so #worthit.
About it. Watched some TV.

THREE DAY WEEKENDS ARE A HUMAN RIGHT

Friday: left work early, went and purchased groceries for the weekend, yard work and bed
Saturday: slept in a while, was worn out. Finished some shopping, made a salad for supper and prepped for a smoke on Sunday
Sunday: Up ass-crack of dawn early, started the smoker, and smoked my first butt of the year. My daughter's bf was coming over and my son. It was a bit more stressful than I recalled, but I did watched EPL action on the outdoor TV while cooking. Hit around 200 about 4PM, wrapped it up and into the cooler. I then cooked cheesy potatoes with Hatch chilis, and some BBQ baked beans. All came out good, I would post a pic but the only ones I took I posted to Jounge snap
Monday: up around 8AM, was sore af from moving the grill and wood the day before. Tinkerd on the truck, and was pretty much good for nothing

Thursday after work, quick visit to RH Mom, back home for a quick bite to eat, the off to LOUD electric jam session. Got there at 8:00 and left just after 1:00 am. We probably only played an hour and a half, spent the rest of the time sitting on the porch drinking beer and telling old Rock Hill stories and had a blast.
Friday, lunch with the band, then back over to the studio and spent a few hours pouring through old tapes of us playing going back to the early 90s. Found some gems, a lot of juvenile hilarity, and was a great afternoon in general. Back home to hike with the pup and the rest of the evening was lazy.
Saturday, Mrs. worked at the park until noon, then we took off for the White Squirrel Festival in Brevard as soon as she got off. Long leisurely drive through the back roads, which we always enjoy. Got to Brevard and checked in to the Airbnb (awesome spot that backs up to the state forest and is next to the city greenway), tossed our stuff inside then headed downtown to check out the festival. Cruised the vendor tents, looked in some of the shops, ate fantastic Latin American fare at Quixote, then down to the stage to watch Nikki Talley & Jason Sharp. An excellent set in the cold rain, we found a dry spot on the porch of a law firm and had a perfect view of the stage. Walked back a block to Brevard Brewing and had a nice pale ale between acts, then back to our dry spot for Jupiter Coyote full band show. They also added a percussionist and turned in a phenomenal set. They don't play many full band shows these days, but they have not lost a step. Got back to the Airbnb around 10:30 to dry off, warm up, and crash.
Sunday, slept in, got showered up then headed back downtown to cruise more vendor tents and shops. Had a morning Brevard Brewing pilsner in the smallest bar in the US at 59 square feet. Decided to go find lunch around 12:30, drove out to Ecusta Brewing for beers and a pretty decent burrito. Again took back roads all the way down to Hendersonville and realized they were having a festival, so we jumped out and wandered the streets there for a couple of hours. Stayed dry all day until we started back down the mountain and rained all the way home and we caught the Clemson game on the radio. We briefly considered going to the Whitewater Center for Hayes Carll, but by the time we got home, rounded up all of our animals, and got everything put away it was too late and we were too tired. Lazy rest of the night.
Monday, long hike with the pup, did a little laundry, grocery run and errands, visit to RH Mom, back home where Mrs. had made some chicken quesadilla dish she had seen on the Tastemade channel that turned out great. Cleaned up the kitchen and watched Band Of Brothers until bedtime.
Straight up 19/19 Covids perfect weekend. We might have been able to squeeze in a few more things but this one was a definite keeper.

Fri & Saturday I took the oldest boy to the mountain compound. The weather was perfect. He had fun playing with cousins. A+.
Sun.: Back home to celebrate wife's birthday with her family. A.
Mon.: Took kids to the park. Martin's BBQ for lunch. Ran errands while the boys napped. Then went to some friends for dinner: Smoked chicken with white sauce, watermelon, and homemade ice cream were the highlights. He also make some appetizer that was sausage stuffed with jalepeno and pimento cheese, wrapped in bacon, and smoked. Fantastic. Kids were worn out and slept well. A.
Overall: Still fairly low key due to the new baby but saw friends and family and ate some good food. Weather couldn't be better. A.

chain similar to Rodney Scott's. I doubt it would have been in a sketchy area. It seems yuppie-targeted.
The BBQ is good, but not spectacular. The sides are very good and the non-BBQ entrees (burgers, wings, etc.) are actually better, in my opinion, than the BBQ. It is a good set up for a meal with kids because of the location and the variety of food.

Family in town for the weekend.
Friday: Quiet evening with bourbon and watching TV.
Saturday: Tried to find something to do in the rain in Charleston with the family. Went to the aquarium, which is severely overrated and now has entry time shifts due to capacity issues, so that messed things up. Cooked Japanese hibachi for dinner. Watched baseball/basketball games that night in the garage with family and friends along with dart games.
Sunday: Tropical Storm Sucks ### departed so we could finally have some outdoor activities. Smoked some bad ### ribs and chicken. Watched Clemson beat Miami. Lotta cornhole games in the afternoon and then into the night.
Monday: Pool almost all day, lotta beer. Leftover hibachi for dinner and watched Game 7 of Celtics/Heat.

Our oldest dog isn't eating much and losing a bunch of weight, I think he's basically in hospice mode at this point so that's depressing.
Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day we typically don't even try to get out on the boat. So my son, brother in law, and myself did some fishing off the dock this weekend. Actually caught a bunch of fish(for us), we were averaging 10-12 per day with the best day being Saturday. Caught catfish, a few stripers, bream, smallmouths. Nice mix for a 3.5 year old to enjoy.
Anyway, I'm not even gonna include the wakeboard boat who hit us with a 4-5' wake about 15' from the dock in this, I genuinely think he had no idea looking back. IMO in his mind slower automatically means less wake, and he didn't do it again. But #### wakeboard boats and many of the people who own them are a cancer. And everyone is insane acting.
However, yesterday my son and I were on the dock around 6-7, most people had called it a weekend so it was pretty nice out. Only people in the cove are us and some neighbors a few doors down just hanging out. Here comes a Santa Clause looking MFer with another older guy and skinny white trash dude in an older pontoon doing 20ish mph, they aim right for us and come straight for the dock. He did turn at the last second and passed maybe 2' away, almost hitting the boat we've got tied up. I genuinely thought he was coming up on the dock, had my son taking cover and everything. I could have reached out and touched them they were so close, while glaring at me the entire time. They did this to the other neighbors who were out on their dock too, but not to docks with no people. I did not hear pontoon people say anything to them, but they also had several college aged dudes on the dock so maybe that figured into their calculus.
On the way back up the cove they start blowing the horn at me and talking ####, goading me to fight. I had not said a word to them up until then, I had been more concerned making sure my son didn't become fish food courtesy of them. I'm a guy out there with a 3 year old, I'm not looking to get into a fist fight with 3 rednecks and that seemed to fuel them. It was almost targeted feeling, like they were looking for a reaction from somebody. I don't know what their end game was, but they finally went on after I wouldn't engage with them. I do think the one skinny guy was prepared to get on the dock.
My wife and I got to talking about it and I remembered JohnFBell's post about somebody pointing a rifle at them. I certainly believed him then, but I had never experienced anything like that out there in my 35 years of being on Hartwell.
So we're kind of at a loss, and obviously my wife is all w tf I don't want to be taking my kids out there with people like that. I've never felt the need to carry a gun out there, this has me rethinking that. I had also planned on taking my son camping on an island for his birthday later this year, now I'm rethinking that. My boat is pretty recognizable, you wouldn't have to get too close to tell it was us anchored up.
Maybe this was just a one off, but the whole interaction had a feel like they were trying to bait me. For what, I have no idea. Maybe to get a reaction they could film it and try to use it to sue? Maybe it was poors lashing out at people they consider "rich"? It wasn't an accident though, and they didn't seem overly drunk or on drugs.
Probably not as exciting to read, but it's got us a little shook seeing as we've always considered the dock a 'safe space' and this was so out of the blue. I'm also having to come to terms with the realties of having children and not being able to react like I might have once upon a time, and that is difficult. Maybe my wife can stroke my hair tonight while I cry and reassure me that I'm not a poosay because I didn't kill all of them.

They got a ticket for passing too close to a dock nearby there earlier. You know the no wake rule changed from 50 ft to 100 ft recently.
So I think someone in your cove reported them, they got a ticket, and they came back for revenge.
They saw you on the dock and the neighbors, so they went at those 2 docks.
No idea why they would choose to do that otherwise.

I know I'm not dealing with rocket surgeons, but I don't think my revenge would be doing the same thing I just got a ticket for. I guess that could be the case, but I haven't heard anybody complaining about people getting too close to docks recently. And we have people who complain about all sorts of more innocuous things.
If someone had been in the water there's no way he would have seen them from the angle he came in at, maybe he just hoped for the best?
For reference, the boat looked similar to this:

I'd recognize them, but it would be nice to distribute it to people. I do take solace in the fact that somebody will shoot them for doing that one day, especially since they're OK doing it to people with kids.

A few of these old boys are definitely the types that LOVE being baited into a fight.
And I'm using the term 'fight' in a very loose way. I think sociologists might actually term it a 'human sacrifice'.

not only to record when you are there, but when you are not. there are quite a few these days that work on battery power.
Why do people act like this? Gives rednecks a bad name.
