Does anyone else remember Orange Aids? I was little but I

Oct 8, 2012, 11:57 PM

Seem to recall it was a store at the stadium. I think it was where the ticket office is located now.

Did they really change the name due to the AIDS epidemic of the 1980's or did I just make all of that up as a child?

I've always wondered if I remembered correctly or if it was all in my head.

I was in school in the mid 80s and yes, that is why.

The term AIDS quickly became taboo in the 80s (sort of like "gay" is no longer "jolly").

You don't hear the term "diet aids" either.

buying several Clemson football posters from there. A little pricey as I recall.

Orange Aid was a drink made of freshly squeezed orange juice with carbonated water added to give it a bit of a "kick".Most drugstore soda fountains served the drink. Many would serve it with a "free" pack of redskin peanuts (about 6 nuts per package).Of course this was before all of the kids developed peanut allergies. I'm 74 so it's been a while since I was a kid :),but this was a popular refreshment back in the 40's and 50's.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.
