Don't Exactly Know How to Feel

Oct 28, 2013, 10:11 AM

Ever since our win over Maryland on Saturday I have had a wide range of feelings on our team and program. In the "pre-dabo" years, road wins would have been pounced on and loved by the Clemson fan base no matter who we played or how bad we beat them. However, I find myself these days not always satisfied even with double digit road victories against teams that in the past have been a thorn in our side. Clemson is definitely on the upswing, losing the FSU game the way we did was definitely a step back, not because we lost, but because the way we lost and all the outside circumstances and what the game could have meant. I think another reason many Clemson fans are not always satisfied is because we see how well South Carolina is doing over the past couple years and the way they have beaten us and we are hungry for the dominance of Clemson to restore. I am glad we got the Maryland game out of the way and started to look a little better towards the end. I hope we come out against Virginia and blow the doors open early to help get the taste of the FSU performance and so-so Maryland performance out of our mouth. Final thought: I have high expectations for this team and program and that is a possible reason for the way I feel right now. HOWEVER I would not trade those high expectations for the mediocre days that we used to experience. Any thoughts?
ALL IN! GO TIGERS! BEAT VIRGINIA!

I think Mickey summed it best today....

Dabo has spoiled many of us over the past 3-4 years...period. this program is no longer a mediocre POS like it was under Bowden, West or Hatfield. it's easy to get lost in the lights and glamour of the ESPN hype machine. But ask yourself, even when we were #3 in the nation, did you REALLY think we were the #3 team in country?

we lost two HUGE cogs of our offensive machine from last year, then we lost Peake to start the year. this offense is not nearly as good as last years. our defense is what it is. its getting better.

i think the way we lost to FSU sucked. it was just one of those snowball games. i still say that if Seckinger doesnt' fumble, that game looks different. we may not have won, but we wouldnt have been drummed.

point is, this program is far ahead of where it was 5 years ago. why are we not satisfied with 10+ win seasons? we should be. to hell with the dumpers that are ready to be rid of Dabo or Morris. be carefuly what you wish for is what i say to those folks.

Very good points. After the Georgia game and then seeing Georgia beat LSU and South Carolina I got super excited and probably a little over confident and started looking past the blaring differences in our offense this year and last. I also agree, FSU is better than us but not 51-14 better. The future looks bright for our program.

Losing Peake was HUGE for this offense.
