You might as well increase Pistol Pete's scoring by 50 percent. He shot all those long range bombs and they only counted for two points. No three point shot back then. Gee, he would have averaged sixty points a game if the three point gimmick had been in effect.

My brother was at Clemson when Press Maravich was a coach. He said Pistol Pete was just a young kid then but he would have a basketball with him at all times and would dribble it everywhere he went.

Records today need to be looked at on a game by game basis and in many cases per play or plate appearance.

You are correct. Dale Brown actually went back and looked at all the LSU shot charts and said he would’ve averaged over 50 a game. He also averaged 38 shots a game, love Pistol Pete.

Dude sounds like he has had a great career but to change the rules seems a bit dishonest and could set a bad precedence going forward when others are in that same scenario.
Just commend him, give him his participation award and move on.

Yeah, his dad is his coach and an "invitation" to the tournament comes with a $50,000 entry fee. So they'd be buying the record, which doesn't seem in the spirit of things.

Davis has 3,664 points after FIVE seasons at UDM with a 3-point line.
Maravich scored 3,667 points in just THREE seasons with no 3-point shot.
Maravich also averaged 44.2 points per game in his college career, while Davis sits at 25.5 points.
This one ain't even remotely close.

Why would you create a special circumstance so this guy could break the record when he has already played 5 years?? Pete did his in 3 years! That is just a dumb idea and probably racially motivated, at best.

Agree. This is only about race. If this were a white man trying to break the record of a black man, everyone would be up in arms about this.
I believe the WOKE-LEFT invented the 3-pt line in hopes that a black man would break Pete’s record. It was also the WOKE-LEFT who created COVID-19 that allowed the COVID year for this young man to play an extra year. This is 100% about race. I, for one, believe all records belong to white men, regardless of asterisks.
I cannot wait to watch this report on Fox News.
