- We have been horrible on the road this year losing 3 of 4 with the only win coming at a lowly Syracuse team that just fired their coach
- Cade's never played in an environment like this on the road (the closest is at NC State, but Willy B doesn't really compare). This is concerning because Cade can make bonehead decisions when he gets emotionally invested. He will get provoked.
- Rattler's mobility is a problem. Mobile QBs have gashed us in the run game.
- SCar now believes they can beat us. Their recent winning streak, the fact that they've played well at home, having beat us last year, along with us having a down year this year will give them confidence.

Their “confidence” is misplaced. Jax State honestly should’ve beaten them and Vandy and Kentucky are terrible. Clemson’s three game streak is more impressive.
The big key for me is the turnovers. We can’t afford a bunch of turnovers or any points off those turnovers. We have to play a clean game.
And please no trick plays. We don’t have the personnel to pull that off and it usually blows up in our face. Just line up and play and the result will take care of itself.

My biggest knock on Dabo is that he sometimes doesn't coach our team like we're a Big Dog. All these fake punts and things are unnecessary when you know you have the superior team. He gets cute way more than necessary.

If we control the line of scrimmage and limit our mistakes, we will be just fine. Get the run game going and all Cade has to do is be a good game manager. He won't have to be a hero and go for crazy plays. Just play within himself and take what the defense gives him. Our D will stand up strong and put a lot of pressure on Rat and our secondary will keep him in check.
I'm confident we are playing well enough to get the job done and believe it will be another Clemson victory on Saturday.
Oh, one last thing. Don't let it come down to a FG...

I completely agree with this, and thought exactly that when UNC had 198 yards at the end of the first quarter saturday. But man, I was extremely proud of how we responded. Not always pretty, but plenty of both fight and guts.

The number of big plays they had in the first half had to have added up to 150-200 yards. We need to limit the number of big plays.

“Rattler Mobility is a problem” = he is averaging 8 rushing yards per game.
“Mobile QBs have gashed us in the run game” = Against the top two mobile QBs (King and Armstrong) we have given up a total of 2 yards
Strengths lean heavily to Clemson in this game. I agree our roadtrips have been a nightmare, hopefully we learned something from those experiences.

Armstrong doesn’t count because he barely played and he’s a different style qb.. Rattler is more like Travis, Mayes and yes King.. but Travis and Mayes did keep drives alive by scrambling as did Riley early.. need to keep him in the pocket or spy him. He doesn’t need 60+ yards at the end of the day just keep drives alive and we have been vulnerable to that at times

Fair point on King, but Hartman averaged 10yds a carry and Maye averaged 7. We also know what Duke's Leonard did to us in game 1. Rattler's been sacked a lot, which I believe is tied to your run stats so his rush numbers are modest, but I've seen enough SCar games to know that Rattler is capable and he can hurt us with his legs considering we play so much man coverage. If I'm SCar, that would definitely be part of my game plan to supplement the run game.

I have watched them play plenty and have noticed Rattler running more as of late. Not designed runs but escaping the pocket. Like the post above mentioned sacks are included and he’s one of the most sacked qbs in college so his stats reflect that. He’s not blazing fast but has good vision and can take off. As long as we have Wiggins on Xavier Legget and keep Rattler contained we will be fine and probably win by 30

What do you mean Cade makes boneheaded mistakes? He' s a gamer, he heady, he's a grinder...for God's sake he's a 5 star😂😂😂😂.
There's no way this game should be close. Clemson has more overall talent at every position. If the Cade and offense doesn't turn the ball over or no special foul ups this game should be over by the end of the 3rd quarter.

When we prep for a running QB such as King at GT we have a strong gameplan.
It is QB's such as Hartman and Maye that have gotten big runs with their legs.

They struggled to score 17 points against Kentucky. Some have concerns about their WR's. No one else has had major problems with them except the teams they managed to beat which were not good teams.

we’ll beat the snot out of them. They suck and you may want to look closer at their “3 game winning streak”. UK was the best win, and that’s a shell of the UK team they were last year. Rattler is less of a running threat than Jordan Travis and Drake Maye. They beat us last year because DJ couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn with less than a 30% completion rate. I’ve never seen that in my life and we won’t see it Saturday. Whether or not the c0cks thinks they can beat us or not is irrelevant. It’s solely about us, and we are out for blood.

Such as:
1) going to the well one too many times with certain plays (up the gut when it ain't working or when it's already been done;
2) Running generally predictable play calls (oscillating between screens and up the guts) way too often, and in such a way as to waste early downs with plays the D knows is coming and put us in 2nd and 3rd and long situations.
3) Throwing to extremely shallow routes really often (sometimes even behind the line of scrimmage), which take a bit to develop and allow the D to get react to minimize gain; again, this often wastes downs and is also too frequent and thus predictable.
4) Poor clock management - poor strategy at nursing a lead . . . either at the end of a half or the game. This applies both to when and how aggressively we try (or don't try) to run out the clock, as well as how overly obvious the play calls are in the process. It's one thing to be **generally** conservative when it's called for (keep the ball on the ground, let the clock roll) - that's all well and good . . . but that doesn't mean you have to basically call plays that are doomed to fail . . . you can still at least TRY to get a first down - it doesn't have to be up the gut every time - you can run off-tackle, take it to the outside, a bootleg, etc.
5) Going for it when we don't need to in situations in which we've failed time and again to get short yardage - an unnecessary risk that, depending on the distance, is sacrificing an easy 3 . . . and yes even with PK problems, some FG's are still high probability scenarios . . . it just depends on the distance of course.
6) Failing to adequately utilize the middle-range pass options . . . as if the dichotomy is between throwing either behind the line of scrimmage or 35 yards down field.
Clemson don't have to get fancy or overly cute, but for goodness sake it doesn't need to be as dry as desert sand, either. There needs to be a bit of killer instinct and innovation in the playcalling and game management.

I am seeing that, and so are hoards of others that are too. And there are demonstrable effects to it in many cases. It does not always come back to bite, but sometimes it does, and it always could. It's a consistent set of discernable tendencies that your summary hand-waving can't get of. Down and distance, personnel, defensive tendencies . . . yes those things matter, and no they are not categorically absent as you think from the analysis of those who've been seen these things and noticing them. "The coaches [always] know best" hand-waving doesn't cut it.

We will have the most speed on the edge they’ve faced since UGA. Their depth at OL is now worse than it was against UNC & UGA. Our DL backups have been getting game time all year. All we gotta do is make them rely on short yard passes (slants primarily) in response to getting sacked/throwing away and we will force errant throws.
A lot of teams respect our secondary, and that’s why quick slants and crossers have been a go to. When the game moves that quick for opposing offenses, mistakes are bound to happen with how impactful our defense has been.
Giving up rushing yards to a QB is going to happen with how we play defense, but even with Hartman and Maye making plays with their legs, that alone was not enough. And it certainly won’t be enough for SC to win either.
There are only three reasons we lose to them: (1) turnovers; (2) multiple busted coverages; or (3) not sticking with the run game. The exact same reasons we lost last year.

It hasn't turned out well. It was a **hideously awful** call against Tech there was simply no situational need or justification for it whatsoever . . . none. I'm not sure if the staff realizes how blisteringly stupid it was . . . but maybe the failure of both plays will disabuse them of trying. Carolina has enough problems that we may not need try things like that . . . hopefully.

We just dominated a team that beat you by 2 TDs in your house without their best WR on the field. I mean I’m fairly certain that 99% of the rest of the country outside of Columbia would deem Clemson the Superior team. We’re better at RB, TE, O Line, and every defensive position. South Carolina gets the nod at WR and Special teams. Rattler and Cade have similar numbers so I’ll say push with the needle a little more towards Rattler.

You have good points and I think they will have times in the game where they will move the ball through the air. Last year they got some key 4th downs that kept them in that game and we very aggressive with it.
I think if we take care of the football, we slowly pull away. If we lose the turnover margin.. it could be uncomfortable.

They probably assumed they didn't have a snowball's chance in #### of beating us at home last year. I doubt they ever factored in a coaching-staff meltdown by Dabo's staff.
In other words....thinking you can win, and winning aren't the same thing.
When coaching is about equal I tend to lean towards the team with better athletes. I like our chances.
