Puerto Rico votes to pursue statehood
Nov 7, 2012, 10:41 AM

Was ignored yesterday obviously but they voted to try and become the 51st state. Would probably be worth 7 or 8 electoral votes I guess.
To become a state they would need a simple majority in the House and Senate and the President's signature.

I'll have to buy new flags, but that's ok. Jennifer Lopez will finally be an American.

My assumption is the House GOP delegation will block the move since yeah it is 6 House seats, 2 Senate seats, and 9 electoral votes to the Dems.

like that idea. But most of the generation from the 1970s and younger like the idea of statehood.
I think their drivers are better than Florida drivers, but just barely.

Getting to 48 made it contiguous from coast to coast.

So that makes sense. Don't know why they added Hawaii and Alaska. Were those considered and accepted rather concurrently? 51 just seems odd.

To simple. The 51 configuration doesn't look right either.
You can do circles, pentagons, or even a giant star made of smaller ones
