DJ is better but just don't think (at least in this offense) he is ever going to be elite or can take us to the top. May be I am wrong but just still see a train wreck against a UGA, Bama type defense. I understand everybody says just if line played better, WRs played better. But they are who they are and one way to offset thus OL issues is a mobile QB. I mean mobile as in Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Richardson (Florida), Caleb Williams etc. Unless you have something like Bennett has at UGA with that OL, very few teams (even the elite ones) have a pocket passing scheme. DJ is just too slow for the zone read scheme, things seem very slow at the mess point and it takes him to long to get going when he pulls it and he often gets off balance. But biggest issue is still locking on to one receiver. So many times TEs had sat down in open spot and he never seemed to pick them up. WE learned with Kelly B. (who had a great overall 2017) in Sugar Bowl that without a down field passing threat you cant beat elite teams. You cant have a Bama defense only being forced to cover 3/4 of the field. Again, improved, but nothing that makes me think he can lead us to wins over elite teams.
For better or worse, I agree with everything you say. Plenty on this site will try to ridicule you for your comment, but it is what it is. Saying the problem is with the OL and/or receivers, is just burying your head in the sand and refusing to do something about the team. I too realize that one drive in mop up doesn't make Cade a superstar, but he sure made a lot of Tiger fans happy to see him succeed. Cade offers hope, not just more of the same.
