Elon schools a BBC reporter

Dude says there's more hateful content on Twitter. And it's not being moderated. Elon asks for an example. He can't give one and says he doesn't read anymore. But he says there more hateful content but can't name one . This is how libs lie. They talk in generics and says it's truth and can never give examples just generic lies

So in your mind XTiger (a non reporter) has such a powerful as an ‘influencer’ here on the massive global platform of TNet that he “evens out” the stereotype questions from a reporter.

Oh gosh, here’s another stereotype … reporters have managers who set the agenda for the interview and who have assessed the skills and competency of the reporter.

Institutionalized left wing false premises and BS assertions from the left wing media -vs- XTigers’s TNet generalizations.

(*). At the very least, XTiger has a record of correctly identifying many instances of fakery and lack of principle by lefties (including some on TNet). Stereotypes are reinforced as being true as data points continue to proliferate.

(?). Interested in reversing the trend by which liberals are stereotyped as phonies and liars? Speak up publicly and be critical of the lefties when they do this.

Peace.

Wow!!! I was almost embarrassed for that reporter. He deserved that thought. That was one one the best beat downs I’ve seen. Get those clowns off their talking points and ask for examples and all they can do is stutter and say “let’s move on”. Yeah I guess you did want to move on moron. Lol.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Not really

Apr 12, 2023, 10:53 AM

Reporter should have been better prepared on that one question (it would have been easy), but all in all, Elmo looked goofy while making a couple of decent points.

"I did resign and made my dog CEO" is infantile.

I do think his take on "competitors" like Substack is fair. Anyone posting YouTube videos that get no likes, on Facebook, knows that social media platforms bury posts linking to perceived competition.

And cutting from 7,000 to 1,500 employees only makes me wonder what the 5,500 were oing with their time. These social media companies were loaded with investment capital and hired for the sake of hiring.

But he's misstepping on the paid accounts. He thinks the "content" is twitter when the content is provided for free by celebrities and influencers who draw followers. Without them, he owns MySpace.

first of all, none of what you said

has anything to do wit this clip. but ok
regardless, he's in the process of paying creators on twitter for their content, like youtube.
Theres a ton coming down the road but of course, takes time to plan, design and implement.
He's gonna make twitter into much much more than just twitter including a payment system like paypal.

Elon sold portion of Tesla = diversification strategy

Apr 12, 2023, 12:43 PM [ in reply to Oh, so you didn't actually watch... ]

Most big money guys sell a portion of the equity investments when the stock price gets high.

This is known as diversification; it’s a well respected strategy for reducing risk in the investment portfolio.

Except Elon did it because he had to in order to buy Twitter

Apr 12, 2023, 5:41 PM

From the same interview, OP posted:

Clayton: So then you change your mind again, and decided to buy it – did you do that? Did you do that?

Musk: Well, I kind of had to.

Clayton: Right. Did you do that, because you thought that a court would make you do that?

Musk: Yes.

Clayton: Right.

Musk: Yes, that is the reason.

Clayton: So you were still trying to get out of it. And then you just were advised by lawyers, "Look, you're going to buy this?"

Musk: Yes.

Re: Except Elon did it because he had to in order to buy Twitter

Of course Elon isn’t going to say that he sold a hunk of his Tesla stock for portfolio adjustment / risk management purposes.

I didn’t look it up, but my recollection is that Elon sold ~ 10% of his Tesla stock. You win the argument outright if Elon sold ~50% or more of his Tesla stock.

Again, if my recollections are in the ballpark, then Elon still has an enormous amount of money tied up in the remainder of his equity position in Tesla.

Big investors (or major shareholders in a company) do their darnedest to avoid implying that there is anything wrong with the remainder of their holdings in a stock in which only a small portion of their overall position has been sold.

That Elon has an excuse for selling a hunk of Tesla (he ‘had to’ because of the Twitter shareholder / takeover battle) is perfect. Therefore, the other holders of Tesla stock didn’t get jumpy and suspect that Elon has started the process to liquidate his holdings in Tesla. If the other investors in Tesla got jumpy, then Tesla’s stock price would take a huge hit.

Elon essentially diversified his portfolio by selling a minority piece of his Tesla and acquiring a large equity position in another company (Twitter).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Tesla stock holders DID get jumpy and the stock plunged 65%

Apr 13, 2023, 7:19 PM

after Elon was forced to buy Twitter. Why? Because investors worried about what Elon moving his attention to Twitter would do to Tesla at a time when the EV market is really heating up. Elon then stepped down from his role as CEO of Twitter and cut the prices of some of Tesla's vehicles which has helped Tesla stock to rebound this year.

Elon is losing tons of money on Twitter right now (its worth is about half of what he paid) which is largely due to Musk's actions and decisions.

The need for you guys to paint him as a business genius in everything is weird. Clearly, he's smart and has done some amazing things but a social media tech mogul, he is not.

Re: Tesla stock holders DID get jumpy and the stock plunged 65%

Apr 13, 2023, 11:31 PM [ in reply to Tesla stock holders DID get jumpy and the stock plunged 65% ]

… which perfectly illustrates why major shareholders in a company don’t just liquidate their holdings all at once.

Notice the contradiction? EV vehicle market was heating up when Musk sold ~10% stake (remember the old axiom of buy low and sell high)?

Musk was successful in selling a hunk of Tesla stock at high price; the cash that he got diversified his investment portfolio whether he just kept the proceeds in cash, bought crypto, or intended it for another equity investment.

After Musk got involved with Twitter, the other investors in Tesla started getting worried and dumped shares of Tesla, leading to price decline.

Are you curious about how Musk raised the money to buy Twitter without selling a bunch more of his Tesla holdings?

When you find the answer to that question, you’ll better understand why Musk’s pants are not on fire as far as a need to lead a fire sale of Tesla stock (I.e., voluntarily sell it at low prices).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Key points here: Elon decides to buy twitter....

Apr 14, 2023, 12:38 AM

He offers such an insanely high price that Twitter is basically forced to take the deal. Musk then realizes how much he is overspaying and tries to back out, but a judge says he can't and so he is forced to buy Twitter.

One of the perks of the wealthy is that often, you don't have to use your own money to buy things so Musk gets some investors like the Saudi Prince (2nd highest shareholder of twitter) and some tech friends to invest money. He then uses a leverage buyout plan along with selling some of his Tesla stock to complete the purchase. He'll have years to make Twitter profitable to pay back the loan (leverage buyout) but even if he doesn't and Twitter goes bankrupt, it'll be Twitter whose assets will be seized not his own.

But, Elon was forced to sell some of his stock since almost all his wealth is tied to stock and he had to put some of his own money into the investment. It wasn't some great financial maneuver, it was a necessary one.

No one thinks Elon causing Twitter to fail is really going to hurt Elon, but it's pretty clear he has no idea what he's doing to make Twitter profitable. He hasn't even owned Twitter for a year and it's lost half its value, and he had to step down as CEO (which also helped reverse Tesla shares dipping).

First the reporter needs to define what "hateful content"

2

Apr 12, 2023, 11:26 AM

means. The left is so loose with the term "hate speech" that they literally use it to describe everything with which they disagree. "Hate speech" is simply a loaded term that no longer has a useful meaning as it has become a tool of the left to censor/cancel those with whom they disagree.

Good on Elon for showing the audience that this reporter is a narrative spinning hack...

Refusal to define “hate” speech / “systemic” racism

Apr 12, 2023, 1:30 PM

“Hate speech” is used in a similar way to “systemic racism.”

No liberal will define what actually constitutes “hate” according to that person’s perspective.

Same with “systemic.” No liberal will agree to define what “systemic” means to them.

Lynching of blacks? Terrible stuff, but hardly a systemic problem in America.

Lowering of the weighting of math scores for collegiate admissions because blacks tend to do worse on math scores? This example of the soft prejudice of low expectations towards blacks is systemic in America (I.e., about ~ 50% of Americans … a large majority of liberals … favor reducing math standards for blacks because in their view [actions, not words] the blacks are genetically inferior [genetically incapable as a race of competing against non-blacks] in math.

Avoiding ‘black’ neighborhoods because of fears about the risk of violence? Liberals who admit to avoiding such neighborhoods go to great lengths to cite the ‘under privileged’ nature of a neighborhood as being their justification to avoid it. However, these same people will go to poor Hispanic or poor Chinese neighborhoods without blinking. This avoidance of poor black neighborhoods represents “systemic racism,” yet the liberals won’t talk about this because they are a huge part of this aspect of “systemic racism.”

Quantitative threshold of systemic. 25%? 50%? 75%? Liberals refuse to share their personal belief about what constitutes racism.

Xxxxxxxx

Leftist power comes from loudly repeated phrases as being truth, but at the same time meticulously avoiding describing what “hate” and “systemic” means to them. Rather than defining what they mean, the leftist resorts to reviling the questioner as being a supporter of the very thing that they refuse to define.

Defining these terms destroys the broad ‘understanding’ that in turn would enlighten many of their crowd to turn away from the conflated (undefined) message.

What you don't like. You see it in colleges when a speaker comes. They call his speech hate and needs violence to shut it down.

They use it to ban speech/posts on the internets.

The BBC guy had to walk back his hate speech to slightly racist or transphobic. Still couldn't even define what that was.
