ESPN Line for Clemson vs. Duke

Clemson -12.5, O/U 54.5
After rounding ESPN is predicting a 34-21 Clemson victory. So, according to ESPN Clemson Duke will score almost as many points against Clemson as #5 LSU scored on FSU; and Clemson will score less points on Duke than FSU scored on #5 LSU. That sound right to y'all?

Are you actually counting that garbage time TD the SEC team got late against ACC scrubs? The entire SEC nation was probably very proud of that great achievement. It just meant more.

Although discounting LSU's final QB makes them appear even weaker, and would seem to make the disparity in respect between Clemson and FSU even greater since LSU was ranked higher than FSU and Duke is unranked.

Flying Tiger I think it's because the folks who make these lines have done their research and know the following to be true:
*Duke was 9-4 L.Y.
*Duke has 18 starters back off a 9-4 team.
*Duke is playing at home(not a neutral site like FSU/LSU).
*Riley Leonard is one of the best QB's in the Nation.
*Clemson QB has less starts under his belt than does the Duke starter.
I think they could have taken all of that into account. The line doesn't bother so much as the lack of respect they seem to have for Duke after having a great year L.Y. The Tigers should be getting credit for beating a quality opponent, but won't.
If we don't beat Duke soundly - the chatter will start.
If we do beat Duke soundly people will ignorantly go, "They beat up on Duke"! Despite how good of a football team they are. A year stronger, faster, wiser, etc. coming off 9-4 with their starting QB back.

I’m expecting more along the line of 42-17 and the only reason we don’t score more is because of the running clock.

it won't be that close.
addressing 2 out of the 3 offensive problems in the off season "should" be plenty to blow out Duke.

I think I am just going to say we win and cover. First games are tricky, especially with a new offense and new starting QB. I'm just not comfortable making a more confident prediction right now.
If we start fast, I think it could be a blow out but we have some history of starting slow and playing down to our competition early in the season. I do think we will come out with a chip on our shoulders, and something to prove, so if the emotions are high but in check, we should have a good night.
