I believe the ones who spent the most money will be the ones who have the biggest cuts. I guess that is how it works? Athletic Departments have become like governments in that they seem to enjoy spending money they did not earn. It is easy to spend someone else's money!

This will not just effect TA&M. This is going to hit every college athletic department. Next round of cuts will be non-revenue sports, men and women equally. Also staffs of revenue sports will need to be trimmed.
The genie is out of the bottle and no one knows how far these changes will go but college sports will never look the same again.

The Athletic Departments will soon be asking the NIL foundations for handouts. I said this two years ago; there is going to be a downwards spiral for Athletic Departments and with that I think a LOT of salaries to include coaches. Boosters now have to choose where there dollars are to go. Do I send IPTAY money or use it for NIL? For the Uber wealthy, maybe it's not an issue, but a lot of contributions come from those who still have jobs and have to make these choices. Maybe I'm wrong but I see a LOT of purse strings tightening soon.

dont make much anyway as it us now. People would be surprised to see how little many of them make. Even experienced full time positions.

People in the athletic marketing department, athletic training, sports information etc. They work very hard and are important to every athletic departments success and logistics yet they get paid peanuts for it.

And that's despite all this supposed money these massive athletic departments are getting. It's why I left that direction of work. You have to basically be athletic director or be one of the football coaches to get decent money.

Expect to see more of this nationally. Football is the main revenue generator..

at most universities and provides budget for the remaining sports for most schools. I imagine that TAMU athletic department is planning for the day when the student-athletes turn into employees of the university and they are reshaping their staffing to support that eventual outcome. No crystal ball here but this is where I see it going in the not-so-distant future.

What is surprising about this is that I would generally consider TAMU as one of the richer athletic departments in Power 5 sports. I am surprised they are pulling the trigger now unless they know this is coming a lot sooner than we all think.
