Daughter-of liked Nicks as a student, her English major profs hung out there. found out this weekend that it was her future father-in-law's fav bar when he was a student in early 80's.

I didn't know JoeG in those days, but I'm sure I spilt beer on him in those halcyon days when they played Springsteen's "Rosalita" at closing.
This would be the era when Lester re-branded the Red Carpet as TTT, pronouncing he'd run off the local bikers who hung there for the pool tables, by free admission w/ student ID and $5 cover w/o. Plus rock 'n roll music vs disco. After the guy got shot in the ### by a biker dude when he was talking to the biker dude's babe.

At least for downtown it's mostly non chains except for Moe's and shipotle, somehow Subway went out of business
I used to have a cousin that worked at that subway and she would funnel me all the aging meat, delicious

if it's been a minute (yes I am hip with the youngsters), may wanna drive down main street and keep going south past Peace Center. New Bohemian hotel is pretty dang nice and there's a bar in the lobby, if you have time grab a beer and take to the balcony overlooking the falls.

you won't recognize downtown.
start on N main near intersection of Church and main, drive south. After you pass bridge, if you have time find a place to park, walk over to falls park on the pedestrian bridge, if not, keep going and at the fork take a left, Greenville drive stadium bout mile on right.

Last time I was in Clemson was before Covid. Wanna say 2019 vs NC State.
probably won't be back anytime this year, hopefully next year will be do-able but 6+ hr drive each way with a 3 yr old and a 1 yr old sounds not so fun.
