I get it - they're facing an existential threat to their FB programs and with it 137+ years of storied football history. Cal has fielded a team since 1886, 10 years before any team in the ACC. While not relevant today, Cal claims five NCAA recognized national FB titles and 14 conference championships. I imagine most fans are paralyzed at the prospect of G5 relegation or worse, loss of Div 1 FB altogether.
