2019-2020 - We don't need to. Our players don't leave.
2021-2022 - We don't lose starters to the portal.
2023 - ?
We are on track to lose 11-12 players to the portal for the 3rd year in a row. This time it includes 2 starters thus far. We've made one offer to a D2 Olineman. What on earth is going on? Can someone in the media get to the bottom of this mess as to why a program like Clemson is so different than every other in America???

The portal just opened Monday. Less than 5% of those in the portal have selected a school. Give it time. Dabo can’t just offer a kid without properly scouting and meeting them. Give it time.

I'm holding out faith that Dabo is finally get serious about recruiting the portal, and leveraging our NIL collective to do so. The two go hand in hand, so an approach without NIL is not serious.

I think the key difference with the 2 starters leaving this year is what each should expect in playing time moving forward. I think those 2 position and head coach conversations had a lot to do with it.
Kubs needs a great season of un-injured, starter snaps to improve his draft grade. He has a kid to take care of. No doubt there is probably an NIL consideration with his rumored move back to Texas. I don't slight his move at all. The Tiger DB depth is pretty good so I'm not terribly concerned about it.
I don't think Beaux is much different. His blocking tape is terrible. He knows the balance of pass vs run isn't going to change much until we have the WR and QB talent to get a high level of production. He's thinking about getting into a situation where he is either THE guy or a guy on a team where the passing reps are high and he can push his stock. Again, don't fault him at all for it.
The other 8 or 10 guys fall into the same category of previous players. They just aren't going to get the PT they want. Ojiegbe may be an exception to that.
I'm not on the panic button, yet. I'm definitely in the "C'mon, Dabo." boat though. If not this off season, I just don't know when the ###### gets flipped. Great coaching hires and a nice incoming class but the big holes in the roster SCREAM transfers based on what we have all seen on the field and the little info we get out of practices and sorting all the coach speak from the staff. I'm not in the "######, Dabo" boat yet but I'm checking prices.

Well to be fair until this year we never had legit starters leaving the program.
This deal has evolved in 2 years to something entirely different imo.
SC has a kicker in the portal. A kicker? What the heck. Crazy times.

What about players that were backups that would have been starters in their junior or senior season. Also, do you consider DJ a legit starter that transferred? Also Chez Melusi, Derion Kendrick, Mike Jones and Chase Brice all transferred and all would have helped the team. Chase Brice's departure being the most devastating to the teams offensive performance.

You totally have the wrong idea about the portal. Find a site that lists the players in the portal and see how few "top" players are listed. There may be 2 or 3 guys that could would actually be interested in playing at Clemson and could help us. The Portal is not Walmart where there is an abundance of things to be had.

I saved the depth chart for the FSU game and from my count, we are losing 21 players to end of eligibility, the NFL or the Portal and we have 18 commitments. The roof has not fallen.

Right now based on reading a very detailed post today about the status of our total roster, the number of folks leaving and the number predicted to come in as freshmen, it leaves just two scholarship spots for incoming portal players despite the number we had leave through the portal already.

It would be unusual if coach Swinney contacted the”fans “ informing them of his intentions regarding the portal.
It would be very rare if any coach, especially one as great as Swinney, would make his intentions known to everyone.
Let the coaches run the show.
Do your part by attending the games and become a genuine Tiger supporter.

The announcements for visits are being shared on social media by the players and reporters. Talk and interest shared on social media by the players and reporters. Of course we don't need Swinney to let us know. If he were making effort to offer portal players we would know anyway.

You people sit around crying about the portal and don't have any money to buy a top player.
Toriano Pride was rated the #1 CB in the Portal and was buried on our depth chart. Dabo has blue chips everywhere.
