we don't eat cornbread too often, but have to have it with hoppin' john and collards. Pan is just right size for 1/2 pan for two tonight, and again w/ leftovers.

Put cast iron pan in oven with lard/bacon grease. Heat to 450.

Mix stone ground, self rising, white cornmeal with buttermilk, add egg and salt. Pour into heated pan.

Yeah, I typically just use the recipe on the bag but it is usually kind of dry. Like a little bit of moisture in it but haven't figured that out yet.
