I wonder if they will give Skalski a shot on kickoffs? Christian Wilkins said he could kick fields goals... of course he thinks he could be a QB as well!

If we're not going to be able to kick high and deep, then

having Skalski going down on coverage would be a big plus.
All other things being equal on kick-offs I'd love to see Skalski as the 11th man on kick coverage.

It's talking about Skalski as the kicker. He kicked some in high school.

I wonder if Potter can just quit high school now and start classes at clemson 3 weeks late. A recent kickoff went through the uprights, on top and over the locker room building, into the parking lot. The announcer called it "some lady in the parking lot has the ball" Dude is a baller.

On another note we have only kicked something like 7 fgs since the wake forest game last year or something. So as long as we get tds we should be fine

Like the QB, they should be in yellow jersey. How is it that a kicker gets hurt in practice? They are one of the best scoring guys on the team. Get this fixed!

Not necessarily. Once, we thought losing Lakip would be....then....
For all we know, Spence might have been just as good as Heugel in practices but due to Huegel having more experience and being the main kicker the last year and some odd, Dabo wasn't going to just change things and take Heugel out for someone that didn't do head and shoulders better. Doesn't mean he's any worse though. Just have to wait and see.

Next man up will be tested with this injury. Kicking in practice is not the same as a game situation. Hopefully he can get some experience this week because don't want to have to rely on him for a crucial kick at va tech next week at this point.

As long as he can make XPs and short FGs we should be OK

The coaching staff has to know that this is a possibility. The backup will do just fine. Tigers score TDs so he just has to hit from short yardage??

Need to practice the backup constantly to get his confidence up. BC will be a good look at him.

To role up on our kicker in practice!!? It's senseless and unnecessary.
Get well soon Greg!!! Go Tigers

I wonder if he could have had a small tear during the Louisville game that became more severe at practice? It would explain why his percentage was off last week. Kickers 2 & 3 should be fine, but I hate for anybody to go out with an injury like this!

I wouldn't say we've relied on him as much lately

He was 1/3 in his last six games of 2016 and this season made two big kicks for us against Louisville. I'm definitely not saying this doesn't hurt us, but might also help motivate the offense, too. Our red zone TD scoring was good last year with Watson, but I'm not so sure this year won't eventually be similar with what Bryant has shown so far.
If Spence steps up and can be as reliable as Huegel's been lately, I don't think we'll see much difference. If he can't be as reliable, maybe it causes us to pooch punt a little more or go for it on fourth down, which also puts more pressure on the opposing defense on third down, as they can't go into first down prevent mode as easily, knowing fourth and short is strategically good for us, too. Either of these things is good for a team with a defense as stout as ours is (better field position or extended drives to keep the clock moving and keep the defense off the field to stay well rested).
More important than any of this is I hope Huegel recovers quickly and gets back to full health and strength in his knee and comes back stronger next season.

You're forgetting kick-offs where he'd become much better
Sep 22, 2017, 6:50 PM

There is no substitute for a high, deep kick-off that either creates a touch-back or has enough hang time to give the coverage team time to get in position.
Low, line drive type KOs can kill you.
We may miss Huegel much more on kick-offs than on FGs and XPs.
