Feelings after today's game

Just like alot of Tiger fans, this season has been brutal compared to what we've been enjoying for the better part of the past decade. Its tough to watch our team struggle game after game, hearing the talking heads in the media crap all over the program, & even seeing the complaining & at times downright juvenile behavior between fans arguing with each other. & I get it, I've done my fair share of venting with folks and have complained. Like alot of folks, I've been spoiled by the success we've had the past several years. When the Danny Ford years were going on, I wasn't even alive for the 1st few years and the '81 title season, & was too young to watch/understand the latter years when still winning the ACC and being highly ranked. By time I was old enough to start understanding the sport and the games, Ford was gone and the downturn of the program in the 90s was taking hold. So I've watched alot of good-but-not-great to downright terrible football for a large chunk of my fandom, while ever wondering if I'd ever see any of the successes my granddad, uncle, & brother did & would talk about. & now having witness us go through a stretch that has succeeded even those times, I find myself in not wanting to see things fall back to where they were. & I think for most of us, that's what we don't want to see as a fanbase is to see the program fall back into those days.
Seems dating back to last season, we've been impacted pretty hard by injuries & illness more than what we had been in prior years. How many teams have had an injury report like ours so far this season? Offensively, our guys just aren't performing. Is playcalling a factor - don't doubt it. But we've seen it in all aspects in some way of guys not executing on the field, & its maddening b/c we all know the talent is there. Our defense has been a big reason we've been able to stay in games, but they haven't been immune to failing to execute or an ill timed error that has kept the opposing team driving. & sometimes when things just seem to go wrong & keep going wrong, its just hard to turn that around. Doesn't mean the coaches aren't trying their best to come up with gameplans or working to correct mistakes in practice. Doesn't mean that players aren't busting their butts to try and win games. Unfortunately, this team is in that place of trying to take a runaway boulder barreling down the hill at them and finding a way to not only stop it but start pushing it back up the hill. I hope that the players and coaches are able to come together, block out as much of the outside noise as they can, & try to finish as strong as possible. Yes there needs to be some tough decisions made regarding the staff after the season. Yes, some players need to be doing some soul-searching. But while we all hope this will be the wake-up call to staff & players for motivation in the offseason to get things back on track, the worst thing to happen is to assume that there's nothing left to play for b/c while what we all hoped for (ACC title, CFP, national title) is off the table, this team should be playing to finish as strong as possible & us fans should be rooting for that as well. & as disappointed as I was after the game & with how this season has gone through 7 games, I'm still gonna be rooting for our guys to beat FSU next week & win the rest of the way out.

We’re off the ROY bus and now riding in the short bus. How’s our academics? We can be the Vanderbilt of the ACC.

Maybe they need tearing down; you know the old slap in the face or cold shower routine to bring you back to reality.
