and retighten your plumbing fixtures. What should have been a 30 minute job has turned into much longer. I can't get the blasted lock nuts off due to corrosion, being on way too tight, or both. I'm tempted to take the multitool too them.

I was going to start doing that after installing new toilets

Aug 19, 2022, 8:29 AM

a few yrs ago, because the valves were so hard to turn. Then I forgot all about it.

On a slightly related note, the cold water valve for the washer started leaking after we unhooked it to install the new floor and new drain pan, and reconnected it. Turning it down a half-turn seemed to stop it, but I noticed it's now green wit corrosion. Probably need to put a new washer in it.

Liberal use of Teflon tape will prevent that

I saw some of that in the drain when

it finally came out. At this point I'm down to the faucet needing to come out and 1 lock nut left. It has started to bread a part when tapping with a hammer.

This all started because the old faucet

had a drop in pressure. No other faucets or showerheads had this issue, I didn't see a leak under the house, so I reckoned it was the aerator. well, I nearly broke the faucet trying to get that off, so I just decided to buy a new one.

Seems like a reasonable fix - a lot of the modern ones are

not really made to be repaired.

I have a similar electrical problem to your plumbing. There are a couple of light fixtures where the previous homeowner somehow screwed in the lightbulb so hard that I can't break them loose without smashing the bulb/destroying the fixture. So as long as they work I'm just leaving them be.
