I would have put 89 ahead of 87 and where's 83?

I continue to say that the 1983 team is the most neglected great team in Clemson history. Early season loss on the road to BC (young running backs who would end up being great fumbled a lot) and a tie with a Georgia team that won the Cotton Bowl. Otherwise perfect. Totally waxed the "official" ACC champs Maryland in the balloon game.

I'd put all those teams ahead of 2011. I liked the 2011 season in certain games, but they were just waaaay too young. When things went well, the obvious talent on the field showed, but when they were in tough spots, that team did not perform. They simply didn't have the inner strength to stand up to some significant challenges. The WVa game is only the culmination of not meeting all those challenges along the way. 2012 showed the 2011 team's potential being realized.

I would equate the 2011 team to the 1976 team. A lot of potential, but except for a few games unrealized potential. The 2012 team was a lot like the 1977 squad who came through in a lot of games that the 1976 team didn't. Now, what I really want to see is whether 2013 can take as big a step forward as the 1978 team did.

This isn't fair. They should limit the list to 4 teams so the coots can play too.

Some for some reason keep forgetting that the last 3 years are the best teams the coots have ever had. Also with the best X's and O's coach they have ever had....

2012's defense drops it out of the top five in my opinion.

If they had the defense that played against LSU all season they would have been in the national championship game.
