For post 20K ... a few words of thanks

I was getting ready to write the preview for Tuesday's game with Western Carolina (we'll get to that a little later) when I realized that the next post I made on here would be No. 20,000.

Remembering that I squandered post No. 10,000 years ago by saying something like "I agree" or "Germans," I figured I'd try to make this one just a tad more meaningful.

I am a son of Clemson....and I like the feel of those words. They fit me well. I could be no other any more than I could change my beliefs of the color of my eyes.

I know because I have thought about such things at times.

I have seen football seasons that made this year's season seem the stuff of dreams. I have seen basketball seasons where we'd wonder if the Tigers could cull 10 wins all year, much less before Christmas.

I have screamed at coaches, kicked trash cans, assigned referees to the most unpleasant points of perdition I could imagine. But I have never stopped loving the school and the young men and women who give far more than my meager donations to its glory.

There are a lot of folks just like me here on T'Net. They were here BT (Before Tommy), heck even BG (Before Germans). Most are gone now, too ... which is a shame. Y'all would have liked them.

But the culture of the Web changed, and T'Net was no more immune than other sports boards. I think that's a shame as well, but heck ... I'm just an old silverback.

So rather than lament inevitable change, I'd like to take post 20K to thank the folks who have put up with pontificating, folks who have brought something to the table when they post ... even when I stridently disagree.

Thanks for the folks who've shared their heart and passion for our school and our teams. Thanks to the folks who've been open enough to ask for a word of prayer ... and thanks to Crump for allowing it.

Thanks to the folks who've stuck around as long as I have ... y'all really DON'T have a life, do you?

Thanks to the GEE-HAW'D faithful, the Pergolistas, Rally Fattys, Holy Grailists ... everyone who has created a unique culture here.

And thanks to the folks who believe when I say ... Better Days Ahead.
