Adams' coach speaks out
Jimmy Hughes, the head coach of 5-star prospect Montravius Adams, speaks out in a candid interview with TigerNet. What has recruiting been like? What positions did Adams play in high school? Does he think Adams will be a contributor his first season? Full Story » |

I don't know if we get him or Lawson

but the way those 2 have handled things has been impressive. If all kids acted the way they did, recruting wouldn't be so crazy and some of the recruting sites would have to shut down.

That definitely separates them from may we have seen on the recruiting trail. I would be proud to have either or both of them in our program. They will be assets, and they are a tribute to good parents and good coaches.

Outstanding job, Coach Swinney.

In the last paragraph his coach says that we were the first to offer him a scholarship. Absolutely fantastic job by the coaching staff to be on top of a quality player like this early on. Also, I'm glad the coach thinks we handled everything respectfully, professionally and "the right way."
Maybe Adams doesn't come to Clemson, but I am really proud to read those comments. It shows that the coaches are competent in assessing talent early, diligent about acting on their assessments and represent the university with the dignity it deserves. Great stuff.

starting to feel really good about Adams to Clemson. I work with a UGA grad who follows recruiting really closely and he is starting to be very critical of Adams.

The credit goes to his parents...

No kid is this mature and good natured unless he is immersed in that type of environment at home. Not all kids in that kind of solid, positive environment turn out like Montravius, but even more rarely do they if not from that environment.
Kudos to both the parents and Montravius.

he's gone about this whole process very maturely and professionally.
Hopefully he chooses Clemson where he'll play immediately.
I expected his coach to sing his praises.

This is all I need to hear

"They’ve done an excellent job recruiting him. They’ve been up front with him. If that’s where he chooses to go, I would back him 100 percent because they have been very professional in their dealings with him and with me. They should be applauded for that. They do things the right way."
I expect him to be a Tiger.

Sometimes, it takes just one fine, young man like Adams

to remind us that most recruits conduct themselves with honor, humility and dignity even amid the turbulence of the process. Of course, we need and want him at Clemson, but I would say that even if he weren't an athlete. And regardless of his choice, he deserves best wishes from the Clemson family.
