anyone thinks they will find Tahj Boyd worthy of an invite or much fanfare. ESPN actually was on C.J.'s jock most of the year and he couldn't get there.

Tahj needs a Heisman moment.

His only chance this year was at FSU. If Clemson would have won that game he would be in the conversation right now.
He has another chance playing against the coots. Not sure it will be enough though.

Tajh is exactly what we need more of in college football. He's a true team player and a leader. Don't worry Tajh! You'll get your due in the NFL while all the other showboats are blowing their money trying to prove who's the big dog as you remain focused and steadily rack up the stats that really count. The Heisman is overrated and a curse anyway.

The heisman is nothing but a paper trophy that is bought and paid for by rich Alum's that promote their best player/players. The money they spend getting their guy out in the public eye convincing them that he is the best in the land. It doesn't matter anymore that the heisman was originally for the team player that done the most to help their Team to win games. It wasn't about QBs, RB, WRs, DEs, it was for the player that had done the most to help their team in every way possible to win games. I believe that person is Tajh Boyd with our Tiger FB team.

9 INT and 3 fumbles is why
Nov 13, 2012, 9:47 AM
|
|
His numbers are amazing but his INT is too high and 3 fumbles is a couple too many. I understand this as coaches speak so that Tajh feels he is doing a great job even though a lot of it is our WRs.
But hey 2013 clean up those Ints to about 6 or 7 for the whole year and he will win a stiff arm trophy. Morris has the perfect system to win the big boy!

9 INTs in 10 games is less than 1 a game. Plus atleast two of those were bombs to end the half.

The 4 QBs ranked about Tajh in the Heisman race:
Collin Klein has thrown 3 INTs. AJ McCarron has thrown 2 INTs. Braxton Miller has thrown 6 INTs. Johnny Manziel has thrown 6 INTs.
Although Tajh has more total TDs than the other guys, Tajh has thrown 3 more INTs than the next closest competition. And of course, you know the voters ding him for being in the ACC.
Just gotta keep playing.

Unfortunately nobody bothers to break down how stats happen. They just look at the numbers, which goes both ways at the end of the day. They don't overlook the tipped interceptions, but they also don't judge the 80 yard screen passes or occasional lucky throws. Just a side note, but in addition to a couple of hail mary pass attempts that were picked off, Sam Cooper has directly caused 3 interceptions himself.

INT numbers only matter vs. TDs--his ration is very good.

Almost 3-1. The thing holding him back is the lack of the ES(EC)PN hype machine.

Lots of QB's have good receivers but can't get the ball to them consistently. Look at Chad Morris's comments about Tahj's accuracy throwing the long ball. He says Tahj is extremely accurate on his long throws and this is a major reason our really good receivers look phenomenal, the ball is nearly always right where they need it to be. If the QB can't put the ball where they can catch it, it won't get caught. With fans like you, who needs enemies?!

Need to take care of business and end this season strong first. Tajh will then head into next season on everyone's preseason Watch list and Clemson can make a big media/marketing push to promote Tajh for Heisman - that's what it's going to take. In meantime - ROLL TAJH!!! You are #1 in the eyes of Tiger Nation!!

Geno Smith was the front runner until they lost. He still has monster stats.

ESPN watchlist has 2 ACC (Boyd & Bernard), 1 SEC (Manziel).
Nov 13, 2012, 12:23 PM
|

The claim of ESPN's SEC Heisman bias is silly. There are three Pac-12 players on the list, two ACC players, and one each from the SEC, Big 12, & Big Ten. The only SEC player on the list is Johnny Manziel, who is VERY, VERY deserving and (IMHO) much more Heisman-worthy than Boyd.
ESPN's Heisman Watch Expert's Poll, Nov. 13, 2012 http://espn.go.com/college-football/heisman12/ 1 Collin Klein, K-State 2 Johnny Manziel, TAMU 3 Kenyon Barner, Oregon 4 Manti Te'o, Notre Dame 5 Braxton Miller, Ohio State 6 Marquis Lee, USC 7 Marcus Mariotta, Oregon 8 Giovani Bernard, UNC 9 Tajh Boyd, Clemson

Boyd is good vs weak opponents, but not RG3 Heisman-esque
Nov 13, 2012, 12:45 PM
|
|
Boyd is good, but he's just not the kind of player that wows you like the Heisman front-runners this year (Klein, Manziel, Barner) or in previous years. I think the Heisman voters want to see great performances-- especially against good competition-- "Heisman moments". Boyd may have racked up a great average-passer-rating against weak competition (like 240.9 vs Duke), but against the one good team that Clemson played so far this year (FSU) Clemson lost and Boyd's passer rating was 132.8 (buoyed in large part by a late garbage-time TD).
ESPN's Heisman Watch Expert's Poll, Nov. 13, 2012 http://espn.go.com/college-football/heisman12/ 1 Collin Klein, K-State 2 Johnny Manziel, TAMU 3 Kenyon Barner, Oregon 4 Manti Te'o, Notre Dame 5 Braxton Miller, Ohio State 6 Marquis Lee, USC 7 Marcus Mariotta, Oregon 8 Giovani Bernard, UNC 9 Tajh Boyd, Clemson

And Dabo. And Coach Chad. And Coach BV. And Sammy. And Nuk. And AE. And Freeman. Etc etc. This is one of the best Clemson teams ever and it'd be interesting to pit them against the 1981 NC team.

You don't hear much about Clemson either on the ESPN football shows. It's probably because they are in the dismal ACC. I've seen the Daniel Rodriguez's ESPN video at least 5 times (it's been on a lot more). That's good for Clemson. But if we win the last 2 games, you'll hear more about Tajh Boyd and Clemson. And when we beat Georgia or Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, all you will hear about is Clemson being a favorite for the National Championship next year and Tajh Boyd being a Heisman favorite.
