GameDay is spending a surprising amount of time parsing out Clemson’s woes. Decent job, honestly.

They’re certainly dressing down the past 2 years relative to the truly elite previous 6+ years, but their assessments are pretty reasonable.

Years than prior to Chad Morris being hired. Hopefully, Dabo comes up with a plan in the off-season.

That will be critical to the survival of our high ranking. If Dabo does nothing, then we are done. Coordinators on both sides of the ball need to be hired as well as a recruiting coordinator. Hiring from within has been a failure. Hate to say it but we need a running back recruiter and WR recruiter because the ones we have now just are not getting the job done.

Yes and Clemson has built a national brand in football. No excuse why those things can't be done.

It can be done, but not without Dabo losing good friendships that he has built through the coaching staff bc, feelings will have to be hurt for Dabo to fix the mess he's gotten himself into by placing his friends in key positions without having the experience needed in two of the most important position in college FB, at once.
If he don't make the hard difficult choices of who goes, and stays, Neff won't stand by very long watching the FB program suffer very long bc Dabo chose friendship over the success of the FB program knowing that Dabo refused to entertain out side coaching hires when the FB program lost both it's coordinators at the same time. And personally, I'm pretty sure that was the first time that has happen in college FB, that the HC never tried hiring the best coaches he could get to continue the success like Clemson has had for a full decade....

And apart from the “flashy” stuff ie explosive passing offense, they were sifting the defense for its embarrassing permissiveness of multiple 200+ yd rushing attacks.
It’s not one position. It’s not one side of the ball.
Thankfully, we have the pieces and leadership to rise up and sharpen ourselves. Gotta make it happen, Coach.

An honest assess., since we’re no threat to SEC ty

ESPN will always seem like Clemson’s friend when pointing out vulnerabilities in a less than elite year bc we all know how they are when Clemson is at the top.

Agree that it was a very fair take. The problem begins with what most here have pointed out…. Recruiting. We don’t have the horses of years past. Besides Williams none of our receivers can get consistent separation. I love Shipley, but found out on his first run against wake he lacks the break away speed we’ve been used to. And TL16 and DW4 also covered up a lot of our flaws in the past. I hope we can figure something out fast because it doesn’t take long to become a thing of the past. Ask Miami, FSU and VT….

It's a shame all their tripe is common puke of whineaszes and crybabies on Tigernet. 'A dog returns to its vomit,' but they lick up the vomit of other.

I think that assessment has been a pretty consistent one outside the Clemson community for some time. A couple of my Alabama friends were shocked that we didn’t at least look outside the program. And think Dabo is putting us behind by not using the portal.

Whether we like it or not Clemson underachieving is big news in college football. Of course game day is going to spend time on that. We should expect no less. Expectations have changed for this program.
