Will Shipley comments are curious.

Ship said this in post game comments.
“I'm just out there running plays. I get the signal and I line up and I go,” he said. “I try to give input or give anything I can that I see on the field. If they take it, they take it. If they don't, they don’t. So I just do my job. There's definitely some things out there that we could have attacked, but they chose to attack some other things that were there as well.”
When he was asked if there were specifics, he shook his head no and said, “No specifics.”
I MAY BE A CONSPIRACY FREAK BUT IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE HE IS SAYING THE OC IS LEAVING SOME THINGS ON THE TABLE AS FAR AS PLAY CALLING.
Again I could just be hearing things.

always.
It's a players' mentality and I love it.

Well, our coaches do seem stubborn so it’s not surprising that they

would discount what a player on the field sees.
I’m not advocating for players to tell the coaches what to do, but given our struggles yesterday, you’d think the coaches would be open to trying something different - especially if a player’s unique perspective might be valuable.

What’s interesting about this is that he said anything at all about playcalling.

I agree. If you aren't asking your OL after every series what they are seeing and what is and is not working and factoring that into the next series you are wrong

Players’ in-game input should be seriously considered.

They are feeling the vibe on the field and maybe have tried to bait a player to see if they bite… then they can take advantage of it.
Especially input from a team leader like Shipley should not be ignored

Re: Player’s in-game input got us this:

It also got us Sammy Watkin's TD once upon a time on "Sluggo" - and more recently, it got us "Orange Crush" to Renfrow against 'Bama for a National Championship.
"Orange Crush" actually was more credited to Jeff Scott who was coaching WRs, but they held a pow-wow on the sideline between Scott, Renfrow and Leggett before they decided what to run. I'll always want to know what question was asked of Leggett right before the final play choice - his answer was "It don't matter to me". Maybe it was a question of who the first read should go to or who should be in the slot, but his answer (I was lip-reading) seemed extremely unselfish.

Imagine if DJ said this. You guys would be on his head. Why does Ship get a pass for saying weird things? Last year with the back situation now this. Makes public statements and apologized in private.

Not Shipley’s first time expressing displeasure

Watching him scream “Run the ####### ball!” over and over on the sideline early in the LA Tech game was refreshing.
