3. Talking Heads
4. Dire Straits

mistakenly put REM and RHCP on. Also RHCP is a 90s band. And for real this time, where in the hell is GNR. I can understand Metallica not being listed, but not GNR.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No redneck R&R included. Also the RHCP's were funkier

Apr 29, 2014, 1:51 PM

I guess I liked them in the 80's, but I think they suck now when I listen to their music.

where's Journey, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, the Clash

Apr 29, 2014, 12:45 PM

they may not be mine or your favorite, but record sales say they are in the running to be on this list.

and are we talking best 80's band NOW or best 80's band in the 80's?

I would rather listen to the Cure now, than Motle Crue, but Motle Crue was bigger in the 80's. The Cure was a niche goth band.

Top 10 bands I saw in concert

Apr 29, 2014, 1:15 PM

I won't take the time to put them in order. Not including bands I did not see live during that period (ex: seeing Styx in 2011 wouldn't count).

Guns N Roses
The Cult
Queensryche
'tallica
Van Halen (w/ Sammy, not Dave - more versatile w/an extra guitar)
Def Leppard (put on a really good show!)
The Ramones
Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
Drivin'n'Cryin
Jason and The Scorchers

Prince >>> Morris Day & THE ########### TIME

2024 purple level memberringofhonor-greenr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Metallica died when they released the Black album in 1991.

Apr 29, 2014, 1:38 PM

But in the '80s? They were as good as any band on the planet. Kill Em' All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice For All.

#### yeah.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-19b.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

their "and Justice For All" show was spectacular

Apr 29, 2014, 1:43 PM

with the giant "Lady Justice" statue falling apart on stage.

One of the few concerts I ever attended that I was ready for it to end. Their encore lasted over an hour. I was slap worn out from the headbanging.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

See, I didn't even know Metallica until that.

Apr 29, 2014, 2:16 PM [ in reply to Metallica died when they released the Black album in 1991. ]

Keep in mind I was 11 in 1991. I also cut my teeth on the 90's Aerosmith and had to go back and learn about the 70s.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgringofhonor-aero.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'd take The Cult over 5,6, & 8. Probably Prince...

Apr 29, 2014, 1:47 PM

and the Revolution makes that list.

I would probably put INXS on there too. They released a lot of good music in the 80's.
