Accountant called twice yesterday. One was a question. Second message said, "Don't believe you'll have to pay". Yee haw.

Had to put three checks in the mail. One to the Federal overloads. One to the state of GA. One to the state of AL.

It's always fun when your accountant misses your tax estimate by 5 figures. Hopefully this is all I have to write and I don't owe more in October.

Believe me when I had to let a client know they owed that much, I gave them the reasons up front - and if it was ever my mistake, took full blame and why. No reason not to. Best thing about being a tax guy is no one will die if you screw up. Well, unless the client kills you.

Wife of is typically very organized and keeps the books very well.

She mailed out the tax checks on Friday that had been written a couple weeks earlier and yesterday was online transferring money from the interest bearing checking account to another account along with money to cover the AMEX bill.

She asked me how much was the tax bill. I told her what the estimated tax bill was and the 2023 taxes owed to the IRS.

She said what are you talking about. I said we owe about $5K to the Feds plus the Estimated payment.

She had overlooked the IRS 2023 tax bill due and only paid the Estimated Tax.

Check cut to IRS and mailed out today. Penalty averted.
