The glove throw by Ciufo to Purify was a little off and it bounced out of his glove at first.

That was the reason for the review but clearly it never hit the ground so they weren’t looking to see how long he held the ball. So I’m not really sure why they did that.

Probably because he had about 1/8 of the ball in the palm. LOL. It was not moving, so it was 'caught'.

No doubt. I’m not sure how he held onto it. He even flipped the glove around and showed the umpire with it in that same spot.

If was about whether Purify left the bag before securing the ball in his glove. Very good hand eye coordination to secure the errant toss. Then he threw a laser to first on the double play. Purify is going to be a good one.
