WR Recruiting

Nov 26, 2022, 8:41 PM

I am too angry and lazy to fact check my memory, but the last three or four years of wide receiver recruiting is why we are where we were.

2019 WR Class
- Frank Ladson. Total bust.
- Spector. Total bust. Kid has so many drops is so frustrating. Plus he is slow.
- Nagata. almost total bust. Strange when he was a freshman Dabo cannot quit bragging about him and even had him returning kicks as a true freshman. A puzzle as to why he never got better. Certainly part of it was injuries. He had a great game against Georgia where he had over 100 yards receiving, and he basically has been missing in action since.

2020 Class
- EJ. Gigantic bust, This is confusing because as a freshman I was encouraged by him. He is just not a good player. Had injuries last year but this year he’s had so many drops. Just a total bust.
-Jaujo Jo(spelling way off sorry). He was considered a project when he came in, but what a gigantic bust. He also sucked at South Florida this year.

2021 Class
- Bo Collins. Pretty good, but not great wide receiver. I don’t see him being drafted over the third or fourth round.
- The other Collins. he transferred.
- Will Taylor. Not sure what’s going on with him. Maybe he’s hurt? But my guess is he decides to go baseball as he has been relatively unimpressive in football so far.

Thankfully the 2022 class seems to have some promise. I really like Williamson. I’m hoping that Randall has not been more impressive because of an injury. Dabo seems to think that Turner will be really good in the future.

I’m sure I’ve missed one or two wide receivers, so please correct me if I have. But combine the crappy wide receiver recruiting with DJ also being a bust, and that explains where we are at this point.

Doesn’t help when you have a QB who can’t get them the ball! We coulda had Tee Higgins, Mike Williams, Nuk and 3rd & Renfrow out there and we’d be just as bad! Thats a fact: DJ can’t throw

They all need a great QB to throw to them...

You left out Tyler grisham probably be in the worst assistant coach in college football. Our route trees are horrible and unimaginative. our receivers can't block or catch for the most part. Plus he is missing big time on talent in recruiting. But that's what you get when you hire coaches with zero experience but a bunch of loyalty. He's not the only one we got about five on our staff that could not coach on another staff

Scary thing is we almost did not offer the best WR on our roster. And we have missed out on several others by not offering because we play games with offers.

We seriously shoot ourselves in the foot so often sickening. Zero reason for the wide receiver room not to be elite

The only reason we offered Williams is we missed on somebody else.
