Henry just passed at 97.

He & twin Bro Henry sold everything known to Boys & Men to make a living after coming to Boston from Italy during WW2 to get away from Mussolini..

including hawking newspapers at first for 2 cents..and learned quickly at age 12 that if they hesitated getting the 3 cents change from their pocket for a nickel given, that many times the customer would say, “keep it”.

And off they went to selling every known product across America, even selling fresh water to people following the Presidential campaign train of Harry Truman whom they met and gave him a glass of water, Free!

In 1947 they decided that their best gig was to stay put & do something outside Boston’s Fenway Park that involved the Red Sox.

Thus, they started selling items such as pennants, caps, later printed T-shirts, etc and formed Twins Enterprise, registered the now famous ‘47 Brand and bam..

they were off & running and slowly succeeded in the sports merchandise business..which today is run their 4 Sons from a store and on the internet, employs 250 people and does $400 Million Annually.

He & his brother got to know on a first name basis some of the most famous Red Sox players, later owned a prominent box seat section inside Fenway and were gifted with World Series player rings when Red Sox won the pennant.

Lastly, Arthur is quoted as saying he met his future bride at a New Years Party, saw her with a date, did not know her but still went up to her and planted a lip kiss.. and four years later they wed.

What a guy from a time lost forever. Check out his throne chair at his business and see what a character he was.

could you award me a simple TU for the time I read this article in WSJ, took photo of hazy pic, cleaned up the pic, summarized the article, typed a summary of it and posted it on TigerNet.

At 82.9 I, like Arthur, have a short lifespan.

TIA & Go Tigers,
